Last month, Honda showed pictures of the refreshed 2019 Civic coupe and sedan. With a new black nose, chrome accents, the car adds the full active safety suite on even the base model. Now the company has revealed the pricing to go with the new car, and some bad news for manual gearbox fans.
Those looking for a volume knob are in luck. All trims above LX get a revised Display Audio system that brings back a physical volume knob, in response to much auto media and owner harping, as well as real buttons for some of the key functions. The steering wheel controls have been tweaked, and there is more sound insulation on those two body styles.
There's a new trim this year, or at least a rehash of a trim from last year. The Sport trim gets the 2.0L four and a six-speed stick (coupe only) or CVT. It gets fog lights and gloss black trim plus 18-inch alloys and the Si's sportier tires. There's also a centre-exit exhaust that is inspired by the Si. Inside, Sport gets red gauges, a leather wheel and shifter, and special leather and cloth seat materials.
Buyers who wanted the turbo and the stick are out of luck for 2019. While the coupe could get a three-pedal option and the 1.5L turbo in EX-T guise last year, it's gone for 2019. The six-speed is still available on DX and LX trim with the 158 hp naturally aspirated 2.0. The 174 hp 1.5L turbo engine is only offered on Touring trim for 2019.
The now-standard Honda Sensing active safety features include adaptive cruise, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and road departure mitigation.
With the extra safety kit comes a price increase. Base DX sedan is up $1,000, though even the top touring trim sees a $300 increase.
The 2019 Civics will arrive at dealers soon, with the Sport trim early next year.
