Porsche Shows Off New Macan, Orders Open Now

Porsche has just revealed details and specs for the 2019 Macan. That's after revealing the facelifted model's styling back in July. The new model gets a new and larger touchscreen with more standard connectivity and a cool new rear LED light panel. The engine remains the same, but power is down a little bit.

The new styling features some subtle changes, at least up front. The main air intake looks mostly the same, but the outer openings have gotten more vertical to make the Macan look wider. LED headlights are now standard with adaptive lights on option. At the rear, the new LED taillight panel borrows from the bigger brother Cayenne. They extend the full width of the back of the vehicle, again helping to make it look wider. The Macan adds four new colours to the palette.

Inside, there is now an optional GT sports steering wheel that looks like it was grabbed from a 911. The touchscreen display for the infotainment system is now 10.9-inches, up from 7.2. It can be customised like the system in the Panamera and Cayenne with different tiles to suit each user. The Porsche Connect app lets drivers communicate with their vehicle through their smartphone. The Porsche communication management system is now standard, including online navigation and connect plus.

While the usual list of GTS and Turbo models are likely to follow, Porsche revealed the new Macan with just one engine choice. The 2.0L turbo four from last year continues, though power has been cut slightly from 252 to 248 hp. With 273 lb-ft, Porsche claims the same 6.7 seconds from 0-100 km/h time. The only gearbox is a seven-speed PDK automatic.

Porsche says the chassis has been overhauled to increase ride comfort, but still make it more enjoyable to drive. The automaker says that the new tires in staggered sizes offer improved performance and better cornering dynamics.

The Macan is available to order now, though Porsche hasn't said when the new model will actually arrive. Pricing in Canada starts from $55,500.
