2020 Kia Sportage Adds Tech, New S Trim

Looking more like an enlarged version of its Forte5 sibling, the refreshed Kia Sportage crossover made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show.

While many may have liked the somewhat unique styling of the current model, the new version is a little more buttoned-down and handsome. New headlights, fog lights – the multi-bulb “ice cubes” are no longer – bumper and grille complete the look up front, while new wheels ranging in size from 17 to 19 inches complete the look from the side. Out back, there are new exhaust tips and taillights.

Inside, an 8” touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now standard on all trims, including the new S trim; it joins the LX, EX and SX trims from last year. There’s also a new wheel and vent surrounds, as well as wireless charging.

Other new tech features include lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision assist with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and high beam assist.

The same two engines from last year remain – a 2.4L four good for 181 hp and 175 lb-ft, and a turbo-four good for 240 hp and 260 lb-ft.

Look for the 2020 Kia Sportage to be arriving in dealers in summer of 2019.
