Ferrari is bringing something new to Geneva. A new mid-engine roadster that the company says sports "the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history." Say hello to the F8 Tributo.
These photos show you the car that's the replacement for the 488 GTB. It's 40 kg lighter, thanks to weight reduction measures like a Lexan rear screen with F40-style louvres. Ok, maybe the louvres don't cut much (or any) weight, but they add approximately a tonne of cool. The new body adds aero features like the S-Duct that debuted with the 488 Pista. Ferrari says that the new body adds 10 percent aerodynamic efficiency compared with the 488.
Ferrari says that the shape of the F8 is "a bridge to a new design language." So expect the changes here compared with the 488, like the longer headlights and more sharply sculpted front hood, to continue.
Back to that V8. Ferrari says it's the most powerful V8 in their history, but then they point out that there's an asterisk. That claim excludes "special series" cars.
So while it puts out 50 hp more than the 488 GTB, the 3.9L twin-turbo engine matches the 488 Pista at 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. The Prancing Horse team say that it operates "without the slightest hint of turbo lag." It will also rocket the car to 100 km/h in under three seconds, hit 200 in 7.8, and top out at 340 km/h.
Ferrari says that the car offers more performance than any car in the company's current range. There's a new version of Side Slip Angle Control, and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer+ that it says makes on-limit performance "easier to reach and control."
Inside, the cabin is completely redesigned compared with its predecessors. There's a new infotainment interface as well as a smaller-diameter steering wheel, plus a new 7.0-inch touchscreen display for the passenger.
