Toyota has just released information and pricing for the all-new 2020 Corolla sedan, which includes the first hybrid Corolla starting just under $25,000.
The 2020 Corolla is all-new. New platform, new styling, and new trim levels. Plus, it gets a hybrid powertrain for the first time. Toyota's way to court buyers who want to be green, but also a little more discreet about it than Prius shoppers.
A 1.8 L four-cylinder engine is standard with 139 hp. On SE and XSE models, a 2.0 L four-cylinder makes 169 hp. Or, you can get the hybrid with 121 hp and the expectation of improved fuel economy. Most trims get Toyota's new CVT, but others have a three-pedal option available. They all get Toyota's Safety Sense 2.0 with pre-collision avoidance, radar cruise, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high-beams, and lane tracing.
The base model is the Corolla L, starting under $19,000 with the manual. It gets a 4.2-inch info display in the dash, 7.0-inch display, six-speaker audio system with Apple CarPlay, and keyless entry.
LE is CVT-only and adds 16-inch steel wheels, an electronic parking brake, heated front seats with premium fabric, blind spot monitoring, and automatic climate control. An LE Upgrade adds a heated wheel, 16-inch alloys, smart key with push-start, moonroof, and wireless charging.
The XLE is the new top luxury trim, which adds heated rear seats, a premium audio system, and a leather-wrapped wheel. It also gets Softex, Toyota's faux-leather seating.
On the sport side, the SE gets the option of a manual or the CVT, mated with the 2.0 L engine. It gets premium fabric heated sport seats, 16-inch alloy wheelss, an 8.0-inch display, auto climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a unique front fascia, and a sport-tuned suspension. Buyers can add the SE upgrade and get a heated wheel, 18-inch alloys, and a power moonroof. The XSE adds ambient lighting, eight-way power driver seat, Softex seat covering, navigation, and a 7.0-inch digital speedometer.
The hybrid model comes in two trims. The base hybrid gets an 8.0-inch display audio system with 15-inch alloys, premium fabric seats, push start, the 7.0-inch digital speedo, and blind spot monitoring. Hybrid Premium adds a leather-wrapped heated wheel, eight-way power driver seat, and ambient lighting.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla is available now at dealers across Canada.
