Plug'N Drive Offers $1,000 Used Electric, PHEV Incentive in Ontario

Ontario drivers looking for a deal on a used EV or plug-in hybrid might want to check this one out. Plug'n Drive is offering up a $1,000 incentive on a used EV or PHEV, for qualifying drivers.

Plug'n Drive is a non-profit with a goal of accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. It's sponsored by a number of Ontario electrical utilities as well as automakers. The group runs an EV discovery centre in Toronto where drivers can explore and test drive EVs.

"One of the biggest barriers to the mass-market adoption of EVs is the higher upfront cost," said Cara Clairman, President and CEO of Plug'n Drive. "However, most people often overlook the used marketplace. Used EVs are affordable and available, and this incentive will help more people join the EV revolution."

To qualify for the $1,000 used EV incentive, buyers have to test drive an EV at the Plug'n Drive EV Discovery Centre in North York or at one of the group's community outreach events around the province then attend an "EV 101" seminar that discusses EVs and how to shop for a used electric. Finally, buyers need to purchase a used EV or PHEV within a year of taking the seminar.

The seminars are free and will be held around Ontario. The incentive applies to all used full-EVs and PHEVs with a selling price below $50,000.
