This is the Cheapest Next-Gen Porsche 911 You Can Buy

Looking for a new 911 for a little less coin? Porsche has just revealed the entry-level version of the latest generation 911. It's the "still a turbo, but not a Turbo" 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet.

The latest of the 992 generation gets 379 hp from the 3.0L flat-six. And yes, it gets a pair of turbos, like all the 992 cars so far, even though there's no Turbo badge on the boot lid. That's 9 hp more than the outgoing car's naturally aspirated six and it makes 331 lb-ft of torque over most of the rev range. The newest 911 drives the back wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, letting it hit 100 km/h from a stop in 4.2 seconds. Add the optional Sport Chrono Package and you can trim that figure to four seconds flat.

Inside, Porsche says the latest model is nearly unchanged compared with the S models revealed late last year. That means the same 10.9-inch touchscreen display. Along with driver aids like Wet Mode that's designed to tame this sports car when the weather turns sour.

Setting the non-S models apart from the S, the 911 Carreras get a unique wheel design, 19-inch diameter up front and 20-inch in the rear, with slightly smaller brake rotors and different tailpipe covers.

So with 64 hp less than the S, you're probably expecting a cut in price. And you'll find one. Starting from $111,000 for the Coupe, that's the price of a compact car less than the $129,100 Carrera S. The open-top Cabriolet starts from $125,600. The order books are open now, with the cars set to arrive at dealers in early 2020. All-wheel-drive models will follow soon.
