Toyota Corolla Gets New Blacked-Out Trim Package

Toyota's going dark with the latest special edition for the Corolla. It'll be the fourth car in the automaker's lineup to get the black trim Nightshade Edition treatment.

Nightshade is Toyota's name for a darkened trim package. That means that the car's accents are replaced with shinier black trim pieces. Like the body colour trim on the nose, which is changed to gloss black. Or the switch to gloss black on the rear bumper garnish. Of course, there are some more easily noticeable black trim pieces like the mirror caps, and Toyota is giving the Nightshade Edition of its best-selling car black alloy wheels.

This is the fourth Toyota to get the treatment, which can be found on the 4Runner, Highlander, and Sienna. Toyota will be adding the option pack to the Corolla Hatchback as well. The sedan version will arrive in the fall, with the hatch to follow.

Toyota hasn't priced the new trim yet, but on the similarly changed Sienna and Highlander, it adds $860 and $590, respectively. Though both of those have far more trim to change out. The Nightshade Edition will be available on SE Upgrade and higher trim packs equipped with the CVT only.
