2021 Acura TLX AWD Sports Sedan Starts at $43,990

Acura is just about ready for the overhauled 2021 TLX sports sedan to arrive at dealers, and that means more info along with pricing of the new model. With nearly as much power from the new 2.0L four as the old V6, along with more luxury and safety features, the 2021 Acura TLX will start from $43,990.

That price is $2,000 more than the 2020 model, but it comes with a lot of extras the old one didn't have. For a start, the new 2.0L turbo four-cylinder making 272 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque is linked to a new 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive is standard. A new double-wishbone front suspension and five-link rear along with a new variable-ratio belt-driven power steering system should make sure the car handles as good as it looks.

The base car will offer remote start and full LED exterior lighting as well as proximity entry for the front doors and a front wiper de-icing system. Twelve-way faux-leather power sports seats with heating come standard along with real aluminium interior trim. Infotainment comes through a 10.2-inch screen and what Acura calls a True Touchpad Interface. Standard audio is a 10-speaker system with twin Telford subwoofers.

The technology package adds 19-inch alloy wheels and a heated steering wheel as well as navigation with real-time traffic and GPS-linked climate control. The audio system is a 13-speaker ELS system and blind-spot warnings with rear cross-traffic and front and rear parking sensors are added to the base AcuraWatch with traffic jam assist.

The A-Spec model adds a sport appearance body kit and Milano leather seats with Ultrasuede inserts. The seats are ventilated and there is a 17-speaker audio system. Platinum Elite has the leather seats and power-folding mirrors plus a surround-view camera and 16-way sports seats. This top trim also has open-pore wood trim and IconicDrive LED interior lighting.

At the top of the heap is the TLX Type-S, with a 3.0L turbo V6 making 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. This one is pitched as being a serious performance sedan, but it's not expected to arrive until next spring, we won't get pricing until closer to that date.

All TLX sedans will get Acura's new next-gen front airbag. Equipped on the passenger side, it's designed to better manage collisions where the passenger's head would rotate away from a conventional bag. It acts like a catcher's mitt to hold onto their head and keep it protected by the airbag in odd-angle collisions.

The 2021 Acura TLX is set to arrive at Acura stores in late September.
