Refreshed Hyundai Kona and New N Line Model Coming to Canada for 2021

The Hyundai Kona is the best-selling subcompact crossover in Canada, with the South Korean automaker moving nearly 1,600 examples of the vehicle per month. Canadians are clearly smitten with the Kona and with the introduction of the new Kona N Line performance model, the package is about to get even better.

Hyundai released a teaser image for the upcoming Kona N Line this week, revealing the vehicle's unique front fascia and new LED headlights and daytime running lights. The automaker is keeping the details a secret for now, but says it will receive a "more aerodynamic design with low-set air intake and more aggressive front bumper, complemented by corner fins and lean crease lines." It also promises the Kona N Line will offer "an attractive entry point to the N Brand."

We can also look to the only other N Line model for sale in Canada, the Elantra GT N Line, for a good idea of what to expect from the Kona N Line. The hatch is powered by a turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engine with 205 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque and also features sporty front and rear fascias, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome dual-tip exhausts, an N Line sport steering wheel, N Line shift knob, alloy pedals and other performance-minded add-ons.

The entire 2021 Hyundai Kona lineup will also receive an update for the upcoming model year that will include a "shark-inspired" front fascia with an integrated lower skid plate. Hyundai says the new design will give the crossover a "sleeker" and "more sophisticated" appearance.

More design details on the new 2021 Hyundai Kona and Kona N Line will be revealed in the coming weeks. Canadian pricing and availability will also be revealed at a later date.
