2022 Hyundai Tucson to Introduce Radical Exterior Design

The Hyundai Tucson was one of the best-selling crossovers in Canada last year. This compact crossover attracts consumers with a combination of safety, affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency, but the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson appears as though it will add radical styling to its list of attributes as well.

The Korean automaker released a series of teaser images for the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson this week, revealing portions of its revolutionary exterior styling. The most notable change will happen up front, where the crossover will receive a wide front grille with embedded LED lights, which Hyundai calls "Parametric Hidden Lights." The lights are integrated into the grille design and appear invisible when they are not illuminated.

Hyundai also says the new Tucson’s body "is bigger and wider than previous-generation models," and will feature a long hood, short overhangs and a "slinky coupe-like character." This will also be the first C-segment SUV offered in "two different dimensions," according to Hyundai, which is open to interpretation. If we had to guess, we'd say the Tucson will be offered in short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase versions, similar to the previous Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe XL.

Out back, the crossover will feature a single LED light bar with two additional slim LED lighting elements jetting downward from it on either side to form the taillights. Hyundai released a sketch showing the dashboard layout as well, revealing a four-spoke steering wheel, a widescreen digital driver's display, a large central infotainment screen and a touchpad controller in the centre console.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will make its official debut during an online live steam on September 15.
