All-New 2021 Nissan Versa Sedan Starts at $16,498

An all-new 2021 Nissan Versa is arriving at dealers this month. The third-generation of the subcompact car will start from $16,498, or $1,500 more for buyers wanting a CVT over a five-speed manual.

The end of the Micra and the discontinuing of the Versa Note hatchback left Nissan with little in the way of small cars. While it was a shrinking segment, it's still an important one, and now Nissan is back with an all-new Versa sedan for 2021. This model hasn't been sold in Canada since 2014.

Arriving a year after it hit the U.S. market, the Versa sedan offers a 1.6L four-cylinder engine making 122 hp and 114 lb-ft, with a five-speed stick or CVT automatic option. The styling, including the floating roof, is upscale for the segment, as is the standard list of equipment.

Even the basic S MT model gets driver assistance features like forward collision warning with emergency braking and pedestrian detection as well as lane departure warnings and high beam assist. Rear emergency braking is also included. SV and SR models add blind spot warnings and rear cross traffic alerts. Nissan claims best-in-class front legroom as well as 425L of trunk space.

Air conditioning is standard, not always the case in this segment, as are power windows and push-button start. A 7.0-inch touchscreen display is standard, though Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are limited to SV and up, as are heated seats. Siri and Google Assistant voice recognition, though, are included on the base models.

Top-spec SR gets 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, remote start, black trim, and special seat fabrics to add some sportiness to the Versa sedan.

With fuel economy rated for 7.4 L/100 km in the city and 5.9 on the highway with the CVT, expect the new Versa at dealers any time now.
