New Infiniti QX55 Crossover Coming to Canada in Spring 2021

The new Infiniti QX55 has made its official debut prior to its arrival in Canadian dealerships in the spring of 2021.

This two-row mid-size crossover is inspired by the Infiniti FX – a mid-size crossover that first entered production way back in 2002. It bridges the gap between the compact QX50 and three-row QX60 in Infiniti’s lineup and is designed for a “new generation of discerning, tech-savvy buyers,” the automaker says.

From launch, the Infiniti QX55 will only be available with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT). This engine, which can actively alter its compression ratio to improve fuel efficiency, produces 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive will also come standard on all Canadian-spec models.

Inside, the QX55 will feature a standard dual-screen infotainment system with 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Four USB ports and onboard 4G LTE Wi-Fi add to the tech-focused experience in the cabin and are joined by optional extras like a head-up display and 16-speaker Bose stereo. The company's ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous driver assistance system will also be available, which can hold a lane and brake and accelerate with the flow of traffic in certain highway driving conditions.

Infiniti says the QX55 has 761 litres of rear cargo space behind the second row, which is on par with more established offerings in the segment like the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. It also has a class-leading 982.98 mm of rear-seat legroom and a sliding second row to maximizes cargo or passenger space depending on the situation.

The QX55 will be offered in three trim levels from launch: Luxe, Essential ProAssist and the Sensory. The Essential ProAssist trim will add items like satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control and the Bose 16-speaker stereo, while the range-topping Sensory goes a step further with the head-up display, ProPilot Assist, natural maple open-pore wood and semi-aniline leather upholstery. The crossover will also be available in a total of eight exterior colours, including red, slate grey, white, blue, and black.

Canadian pricing for the 2021 Infiniti QX55 has yet to be confirmed.
