Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Gets a Performance Edition

Ford is adding a little more muscle to the Mustang Mach-E, with the just-announced GT Performance Edition that digs a little deeper into the battery, sending more juice to the twin electric motors and giving it more torque, more power, and more acceleration.

The GT Performance Edition boosts the standard GT from 600 lb-ft of torque to 634, and while horsepower stays the same at 480 hp, that extra torque means more power that's available more of the time.

It cuts the GT's 3.8 seconds estimated 0-96 km/h time to 3.5 seconds, though there's a cost in range as well, dropping from 405 km to an EPA estimated 381.

More than just the extra torque, the GT Performance Edition gets 20-inch black-painted wheels wearing Pirelli summer tires. It also will offer MagneRide magnetically adjustable shocks, which should boost handling performance as well as ride. Like the GT, it will have 19-inch front brakes, but the Performance Edition will get red-painted Brembo callipers.

Interior upgrades include Ford Performance sculpted front seats to help keep you in place with Performance Gray ActiveX materials covering. The seats feature metallic stitching and Miko perforated reflective inserts. The instrument panel gets aluminum trim and the back sports a Performance Edition badge.

The Mustang Mach-E GT and GT Performance Edition will both arrive next summer and will come in Mustang signature colours including cyber orange, grabber blue, and rapid red.
