Pricing for 2021 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Announced

Subaru has just announced pricing for the 2021 WRX and WRX STI models. The cars get some small changes for this year when it comes to content, but they hold the line on price. The WRX starts from $29,995, a price it's held for the past five model years, while the WRX STI sees a $100 price increase from last year and the top trim gets last year's special edition suspension.

Automatic headlights are now offered on every WRX, previously offered only on the Sport model and above. The Sport trim also gets new features, including the proximity key and push-button start that was previously only on Sport-Tech models and above. Sport-Tech models get Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers.

Those changes seem small, but with the price holding the line, large changes weren't likely. The Subaru WRX continues to offer a 268-hp 2.0L turbocharged boxer-four and a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) on select trims. It comes with Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto, along with Dunlop performance tires and a special red-stitched interior.

The WRX STI gets a more significant update for 2021, a new Bilstein performance-tuned suspension that was previously limited to the Type RA and Kanrai special edition cars. All STIs get a 2.5L turbo engine with 310 hp and 290 lb-ft, with a driver-controlled centre differential, limited-slip front and rear diffs, and a six-speed stick. STI Sport-Tech models can be had with the large wing that's the signature of the STI, or a much smaller lip spoiler for those who prefer subtlety.

Expect the new models at dealers soon.
