2022 Subaru Legacy Pricing Announced, DriverFocus Availability Expands

Pricing for the 2022 Subaru Legacy has just been announced. The model doesn't get the same changes as the Outback crossover but does add the brand's innovative driver attention monitoring system to one additional trim level.

The 2022 Legacy starts from $26,795, a $100 increase from last year, and will be offered in five trim levels across two engine options. The entry Convenience trim includes EyeSight with lane centring and has Subaru's twin-screen infotainment and climate control system but does not add the heated steering wheel that became standard equipment on the Outback.

The Touring trim does have a heated steering wheel, along with dual-zone climate, power sunroof, and proximity entry, as well as a wider safety suite including blind-spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and it adds an 11.6-inch portrait-orientation touchscreen.

Limited trim picks up the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which uses a sensor to monitor the driver's eye line to make sure that they're looking at the roadway and not their mobile device. Limited comes with the standard 182-hp 2.5L four-cylinder engine of the lower trims, while also offering the 260-hp turbocharged flat-four that is standard on Premier GT. Premier comes with Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, and (an increasingly rare option in 2022) a CD player.

Subaru didn't say exactly when the model would arrive but expect it at dealers later this year.
