The Lincoln Navigator has received a number of small changes and updates for the 2022 model year, including revised styling, more standard active safety features and Lincoln’s new ActiveGlide hands-free driving system.
The updated full-size SUV, which will arrive at dealerships early next year, features minor exterior styling revisions including a new grille, standard adaptive pixel projector headlamps, and new ‘3D’ taillamps. The Range-topping Black Label trim also gets its own unique grille treatment to set it apart from less well-equipped models.
Inside, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator remains mostly unchanged, though it introduces some new available upholstery colour options and new ‘Central Park’ and ‘Invitation’ interior themes for the opulent Black Label trim. A new Lincoln Play rear-seat infotainment system with 10.1-inch screens is also now available, giving users the ability watch movies and TV shows, play games and listen to music while out on the road. Lincoln’s 30-way perfect position front seats have also gained upgraded massage functionality, while the second-row seats now come with standard heating, ventilation, and a new available massage function. A new 5.8-inch rear digital display module allows rear-seat passengers to adjust their climate control settings.
Lincoln says the 2022 Navigator “has the most standard and available driver-assist technologies in its class,” including forward collision warning, post-collision braking, Distance Alert, Dynamic Brake Support, pedestrian detection, automatic headlights, and active park assist, among much more.
The updated SUV is also the first Lincoln product to offer the automaker’s ActiveGlide hands-free driving system, which pairs adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering and road sign recognition to offer hands-free driving capability on lane-marked highways. A driver-facing camera embedded in the instrument cluster tracks the driver’s eyes and head position to help ensure they are paying attention. Lincoln says this system will work on 130,000 miles of highway in the U.S. and Canada when it launches next year.
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator sticks with its familiar twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, which makes an impressive 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, as well as the same 10-speed transmission. A new available adaptive suspension with Road Preview system has also been added, which uses a camera to read the road ahead and make pre-adjustments to the active suspension system for improved ride comfort and handling.
More details on the updated Lincoln Navigator, including Canadian-specific pricing and fuel economy figures, will be released as its early 2022 launch date approaches.
