Genesis has just introduced the next fully electric vehicle (EV) in its growing lineup, a brand new subcompact crossover called the GV60.
Scheduled to arrive in Canada in 2022, important specifications for the Genesis GV60 haven’t been revealed yet, but the new EV is built on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. In those vehicles, the platform provides all-wheel drive capability, the ability to use the EV as a mobile generator with vehicle-to-load technology, a predicted 470 km of range, and a 77.4-kWh long-range battery that can be charged to 80 per cent in about 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.
Presented in a striking neon yellow paint, the Genesis GV60 has a unique look while still utilizing the double stacked headlight and tail light design that is used throughout the Korean automaker's lineup.
Photos of the interior show a dark blue leather with neon yellow contrast stitching, and an ultra wide screen under a single housing for the gauge cluster and infotainment screen. Genesis has called extra attention to the new “Crystal Sphere,” which acts as the car’s gear selector and also provides mood lighting.
An interesting feature that will likely not be available in North America are the side mirrors, which have been replaced by cameras.

The Genesis GV60 joins the Electrified G80 sedan in its EV lineup and the larger internal combustion GV70 and GV80 in its crossover lineup. The GV60 should be smaller than the compact GV70.
