2020 Acura NSX

History/Overview

We'd argue Acura will never make as big a splash as it did with the original NSX 30 years ago, but that didn't stop the Japanese luxury car brand from trying to best itself with the 2017 debut of the second-gen version. It's a gas-electric hybrid supercar that uses battery power to provide both AWD traction and torque vectoring to improve handling.

What's New / Key Changes from Last Year

For 2020, the only change of note is the addition of Indy Yellow Pearl paint, which recalls a shade offered on the original NSX.

Available Trims

The NSX comes in a single trim powered by a 3.5L turbocharged V6 that works with three electric motors and a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Standard Features

Every NSX's standard safety package comprises automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, a multi-angle backup camera, and tire pressure monitoring.

Outside observers are treated to flush-mounted door handles, LED brake lights, passive keyless entry, auto on/off LED headlights, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and reverse tilt-down, and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tires and forged aluminum wheels.

Inside, Acura fits the NSX with dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, active noise cancellation, power windows and door locks, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, an integrated garage door opener, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED ambient lighting, leather-trimmed door and dash panels, an Alcantara headliner, heated four-way power seats with perforated leather/Alcanatara upholstery, and sport pedals.

The infotainment system is housed in a 7.0-inch touchscreen that houses a nine-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, satellite radio, navigation, an HDMI input, HD radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The driver gets an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster.

Key Options

NSX options include carbon fibre exterior pieces, a carbon fibre roof panel and rear spoiler, carbon ceramic brake rotors, and carbon fibre interior trim.

Fuel Economy

As of this writing, Acura hadn't published fuel consumption figures for the 2020 NSX, but they should be the same as those for the 2019 model: 11.1/10.8 L/100 (city/highway).

Competition

There aren't many hybrid cars that compare to the NSX, but there's no shortage of high-dollar performance machines for it to go up against. Those include the Audi R8, the BMW i8 (one of the few hybrids in the sport coupe class), Mercedes-Benz's AMG GT, the Porsche 911, and entry-level models from Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
