History/Overview
The Hyundai Palisade is an all-new model for 2020, a mid-size SUV with three rows of seating that replaces the Santa Fe XL. It's also the brand's flagship model.
Available Trims
Hyundai offers the Palisade in Essential, Preferred, Luxury and Ultimate trims. Common to all is a 3.8L V6 engine with an eight-speed transmission. Essential starts out with front-wheel drive, and can be optioned to AWD, which is standard in the upper three trims.
Standard Features
The Palisade Essential package comes with 18-inch wheels, automatic on/off headlights with high beam assist, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, eight-passenger seating, heated front seats, a six-way manual driver's seat, an 8.0-inch infotainment display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, air conditioning with second-row controls, a heated/leather-trimmed/tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control.
Standard safety equipment includes tire pressure monitoring, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, lane keeping and following assists, driver attention warning, and rear parking sensors.
Preferred trim adds 20-inch wheels, door-handle welcome lights, auto-leveling rear suspension, blind spot monitoring, eight-way power front seats, rear sunshades, heated rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch gauge cluster display, a sunroof, passive keyless entry, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and rear cross traffic alert.
Luxury trim brings LED headlights, leather seating, ventilated front seats with driver cushion extension, power-folding third-row seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 12-speaker stereo, in-car intercom, faux leather dash trim, 360-degree exterior camera views, a hands-free power tailgate, LED interior lighting, a blind spot view monitor, front parking sensors, and highway driving assist.
Finally, Palisade Ultimate comes with LED taillights, side mirror puddle lights, rain-sensing wipers, seven-passenger seating, Nappa leather upholstery, four-way power driver lumbar, ventilated second-row captains chairs, a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, suede headlining, a digital gauge cluster, a dual-panel sunroof, and a 115-volt power outlet.
Key Options
The Palisade's sole option is a seven-passenger seating configuration in Luxury trim.
Fuel Economy
Hyundai's fuel consumption estimates for the Palisade are 11.9/8.8 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 12.3/9.6 for AWD models.
Competition
With the Palisade, Hyundai has a new vehicle to compete with Asian crossovers like the Nissan Pathfinder, the Subaru Ascent, the Honda Pilot, the Toyota Highlander; domestic models including the Chevrolet Traverse, the GMC Acadia, the Ford Explorer, and the Dodge Durango; and Germany's Volkswagen Atlas. The Kia Telluride is a mechanical twin to the Palisade.
In Ultimate trim, there's some crossover with luxury models like the Acura MDX, the Lexus RX L, the Audi Q7, the Volvo XC90, and the Infiniti QX60.
Palisade's near full-size dimensions make it possible to cross-shop with the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Ford Expedition.
