History/Overview
Lexus introduced the compact NX in 2015, when it was the brand's smallest utility model. It comes with gasoline and hybrid powertrains. In spring 2019, Lexus announced that it would move NX manufacturing to Ontario, starting in 2022.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, the NX 300h hybrid model sees a dramatic price decrease to go with a shorter list of standard features. The NX 300 gasoline version is carried over with a small price increase.
Available Trims
Lexus offers the NX as the NX 300 and NX 300h.The NX 300 uses a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine that comes with a six-speed transmission and AWD. The hybrid NX 300h gets a 2.5L engine matched with electric power, a continuously variable transmission and AWD.
Standard Features
The NX 300 comes standard with heated front seats, eight-way power adjustable front seats, tilt-and-telescopic steering, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, passive keyless entry, automatic high beams, radar cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicycle detection and automatic braking, lane departure alert with steering assist and road edge detection, an eight-speaker stereo with 8.0-inch display, Enform infotainment suite, Apple CarPlay, LED high- and low-beam headlights, fog lights and daytime running lights, heated side mirrors, 17-inch wheels and a windshield wiper de-icer.
For the most part, the NX 300h is similarly equipped, but lacks LED high beams. A sunroof and power tailgate were included last year but are now options.
Key Options
The NX 300 can be had with six different option packages, three of which are F Sport groups that bring sporty appearance touches and firmer suspension settings. They also include some of the same niceties that come with the Premium, Luxury and Executive packages, like a power tailgate, ventilated front seats, driver's seat memory, a sunroof, power steering wheel adjustments, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, heated rear seats, a larger infotainment display, leather seating, navigation, rain-sensing wipers, an upgraded stereo, wireless smartphone charging and an adaptive suspension.
The NX 300h's options are limited to Premium and Executive packages that add the same lists of luxury and convenience items.
Fuel Economy
Lexus's fuel consumption estimates for the NX 300 are 10.7/8.5 L/100 km (city/highway); the NX 300h is rated at 7.2/7.9 L/100 km.
Competition
The NX's competitors include the Acura RDX, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, BMW X1 and X2, Cadillac XT4, Volvo XC40, Lincoln MKC/Corsair and Infiniti QX50.
