History/Overview
New for 2020, the Lincoln Corsair replaces the MKC as the brand's compact crossover offering. As with its predecessor, the Corsair shares underpinnings with the Ford Escape.
Available Trims
The Corsair comes in Standard and Reserve trims. All-wheel drive, a 2.0L turbo engine and an eight-speed transmission are standard. Reserve can be optioned with a stronger 2.3L motor.
Standard Features
Standard trim's technical and exterior equipment includes an electric parking brake, selectable drive modes, auto engine stop/start, heated/power-folding side mirrors, automatic LED headlights with LED signature lighting, LED taillights, and 18-inch wheels.
For convenience and comfort, there's dual-zone automatic climate control, passive keyless entry, heated/leather front seats with 10-way power adjustments, active noise control, cruise control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, ambient lighting, aluminum interior trim, a power tailgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote engine start, and a 6.5-inch digital gauge cluster display.
A 10-speaker stereo is standard along with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation, and satellite radio.
Safety items include the Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 suite, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a lane keeping system, and backup sensors.
Reserve trim adds genuine wood interior trim, lighted centre console logo and front-door scuff plates, a frameless rearview mirror, a 14-speaker stereo, an auto-dimming driver's side mirror, hands-free tailgate operation, LED fog lights, and 19-inch wheels.
Key Options
Standard trim's options include Luxury, Elements and Co-Pilot Plus packages; Reserve also offers the Luxury and Co-Pilot Plus groups, and adds a Technology equipment group, plus a selection of cosmetic additions.
Some of the features included in those packages are an adaptive suspension, wireless smartphone charging, the ability to use a phone as the car's key, 360-degree exterior camera views, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display, 24-way massaging front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, active park assist, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, a windshield wiper de-icer, and 20-inch wheels.
Safety extras available are forward sensing, evasive steering assist and reverse automatic braking.
Fuel Economy
Lincoln's fuel consumption estimates for the Corsair are 11.1/8.1 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 2.0L engine, and very similar ratings of 11.1/8.2 with the 2.3L motor.
Competition
The Corsair is part of a competitive market segment populated by vehicles from most of the world's major car-producing nations.
From the U.S. come the Cadillac XT4 and the Buick Envision.
German brands supply the BMW X1, X2 and X3 models, the Audi Q3 and Q5, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Sweden's Volvo sends the XC40. Britain's sole model is the Jaguar E-Pace.
Japan's upscale compact crossovers are the Acura RDX, the Lexus NX, and the Infiniti QX50.
