History/Overview
Nissan’s Rogue compact crossover is all-new for 2021. The third generation is similar in size to the outgoing version, but presents a more rugged face to the world. It also shares its underpinnings with the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander.
Available Trims
Nissan makes the Rogue in S, SV, and Platinum trims. All use a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. S and SV can be had with front- or all-wheel drive, and Platinum is AWD-only.
Standard Features
Outside, 17-inch aluminum wheels are standard, along with automatic LED headlights/daytime running lights, LED taillights, power/heated side mirrors, and dual-zone A/C.
Inside, you get driver’s side lumbar, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a four-speaker stereo.
The Rogue’s standard driver assist features include forward collision detection with automatic braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, automatic high beams, and intelligent driver alertness.
SV trim adds radar cruise control, ProPilot assist, lane departure prevention, blind spot intervention, 360-degree camera views, passive keyless entry, remote engine start, 18-inch wheels, roof rails, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, and a six-speaker stereo.
Platinum trim gains traffic sign recognition, front/rear/side parking sensors, ProPilot with navi link, three-zone climate control, rear door sunshades, reverse tilt-down mirrors, Nappa leather seats, heated rear seats, 19-inch wheels, LED fog lights, a hands-free tailgate, a 9.0-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, and a 10-speaker stereo.
Key Options
The Rogue’s sole option is a premium package for SV trim that adds rear door sunshades, a power tailgate, leatherette seats, and heated rear seats.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates for the Rogue are 8.9/7.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 9.2/7.2 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
With the Rogue, Nissan competes with a wide range of other compact crossovers. Those include the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, the aforementioned Mitsubishi Outlander, Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
