1995 Jaguar XJ8

by Ford_Fusion on 01-02-2013
The Good Ol' Jag
Everyone knows that older British cars have zero reliability. Same for the Jag. When it breaks down every so often, it's expensive to service. However, it is a beautiful car on the inside and the outside. The wood trim brings colour and more of a sense of luxury to the interior, and the well-crafted hood ornament and classic XJ design turn heads everywhere, especially when you're listening to the fantastic roar of a British V8. In the end, the looks and performance make up for the lack of reliability.

Wonder Cat
Almost 200k and still runs like new, some little quirks as you would expect but makes my best part of the day anytime behind the wheel.
Daily driver all year round, shod with ice radials and traction control it will go anywhere... within reason!
Favorite move is passing going up hills as the S/C just delivers all the way to fuel shut off at 260kph

2001 Jaguar XJ8

Great Car
I've owned an '01 Jaguar for a few years now. Did not ever have any major problems with her. She rides beautifully and has been quite reliable.

Only downside is that they require Premium Fuel. (Fairly large downside in today's economy)

1994 Jaguar XJ6

Marriage of power & british luxury ..... You can't complain !!! Its a Jag
Wonderful and beautiful cars ever built. Little sophisticated and that's what makes it a Jag. Very strong.... I mean it. Absolutely freakin luxurious inside. I have decided from now on that I won't buy that rotten cars. Would only drive a Jaguar.
Takes you everywhere you want and sometimes I feel sad as the trip is over as I always wanted that destination could have been a bit far ;)
Experience a Jaguar and I am sure you won't buy other cars.

Awesome car!
Sweet ride, everyone should have one! I just bought mine and I can't stop driving it. I've put 20, 000 kilometers on it already and have only had it for a week. Next road trip is to Toronto. It drives so smooth, no bumpy ride and it's so comfortable.

1995 Jaguar XJR

by tonyw on 12-09-2012
British charm, which means your mechanic is your best friend
The British equivalent of a Buick Grand National
the XJR is a sedate sedan imbued with a hopped up engine.
It transforms the sleepy four door into a monster.
But it's terrible on gas and you will spend thousands annually on upkeep of a car that depreciates faster than a melting snow cone.
However, it's gorgeous, inside and out and it is a rare sports car and luxury car in one - a classier M5.

1990 Jaguar XJ6

Trim: Sovereign
by JakeStackhouse on 11-22-2012
It's my first, and will hopefully be my last car.
This car is everything you'd expect from a Jaguar except it's built as well as they say it was. The 1988-1994 then 1995-1996 were spectacularly built vehicles. I have had no trouble with the integrity of the actual car. Just common wear from a 23 year old car, and evidence suggesting the previous mechanic working on the vehicle either had an IQ of 12, or he was rather inept with British vehicles. I have this car as my daily driver (even through winter!)and it may be a bit of a pig on gas, I average 15L/100km but it gets me not only from point A to point B without letting me down, it gets me there in a sort of style that I can't describe. After you drive one of these vehicles, you just can't go back to driving normal cars. I just picked up my car from the mechanic (Had a 20$ Valve cover gasket installed) and I couldn't stand driving anything else for the time it was in the shop, it destroyed me not being able to drive it. Now the parts are extremely well-priced on this vehicle. There are an abundance of parts available from many reliable sources that send quality parts to your door, though one issue I have is that it takes at least a week on some occasions for the part to from in from California, Missouri or London (All common places you'd be ordering from). They have successfully molded everyday driving and classic car motoring with this vehicle, I can drive it everyday, but with a few hoses or clamps being replaced along the way!

2009 Jaguar XF

A Joy to Drive
This is by far the nicest car I have ever owned and probably the nicest ride I have ever had. Every day it is a joy to turn the vehicle on and I am constantly finding reasons to take it for a ride. The Jaguar brand has had issues in the past with relieability however they have been working hard to turn the brand around and the XF is one of their leaders. With the V8 300 lbs hp and 320 lbs torque it is definitely not sluggish even if it is almost 4,100 lbs. This vehicle is a 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and it feels it. Unfortunately it has a tradeoff which is the gas milage, but the performance is worth the sacrifice. The Jaguar XF is extremely quite and even at highway speeds it is a beautiful smooth ride that is extremely quite. The winter mode definitely helps in the Canadian climate and is all that is needed within city limits.

I dare you to just take a ride and I know you will fall in love with it. Definitely a joy to drive.

Fast fun and a real looker with the diversity of a family car. Snow tires and superior traction control keeps the 510 horses well tamed. I have no serious issues mechanically and only minor problems with the power windows. I would strongly recommend this car

Riding in Luxury
The ride in this Jaguar is always smooth, comfortable, and classy. In the summer with the top down you feel like a celebrity riding through town. The interior is attractive, the sound from the speakers is warm, and there are even two seats in the back if you are traveling with smaller guests. The car has a 5-CD changer in the trunk, which was always convenient for our changing moods. I had many storybook memories in this car. I hope it continues to please and inspire another owner.

2000 Jaguar XJ8

beautiful but costly
The car is beautiful and a chick magnet. However it gets lot of problems that are expensive to fix and can only be fixed at jaguar since it requires special tools. It also requires premimum gas and it goes through the gas quite easily. My recommendation is, if you have the money, go for it. If its something you need to save up for, its only going to cost you lots more after buying it.

1962 Jaguar Mark X

Wardor Street Rolls
OK, I have never seen "Wardor street" and my big vintage Jag looks only vaguely like a Rolls Royce. Only the most NON car people will make the mistake. But someplace in England there is Wardor street and it seems that the name implies a down scale wanna be rich guy.
Never mind that the Jag was way more expensive than an average car and by no means a car that a typical person could ever afford. But hey...it's all just names right?
Fact is this car is just a treat to be in! The widest British car ever made until Jaguar outdid themselves with the XJ 220 in 1992, also more wood inside than an Edwardian library. Replacing this interior wood alone can cost more than an entire brand new small car! The leather being 5 decades old is understandably weathered but riding in this car, floating along in a state of oblivious comfort can fool you, the car is big, VERY big. But if you ever need to use it, the performance of the suspension and brakes is on par with the finest sports cars of its day, thanks to the fact that the underpinnings and even the engine match those of the E-Type jag it shared showroom floors with when they were introduced together as new models in 1961. Now, the weight of the beast is where it separates. The MK 10 is "only" capable of about 120 MPH where the E-Type (or XKE for the uninitiated) will climb right up to 130 MPH or so. Not a speed I would like to attain with the big old lady in question but good to know what is available if needed. It is most happy at a tad over the posted speed limit and if allowed to run at around 120-130 KPH it is effortless to keep it steady and as solid as can be on the road.
I have loved this car and it is the car my bride was delivered to the altar in along with my father in law to be. Now my daughters are lining up to use the car as there wedding day carriage as well. Google Jaguar MK 10 and see for yourself what all the oohing and awwing is all about.

Jaguar S-Type
Jaguar is a dead brand walking. Analysts blame stagnant styling for its sales somnambulism. To rectify the aesthetic deficit, the man behind the universally beloved Aston Martin range penned the universally beliked Jaguar XK (that looks like an Aston Martin) and the upcoming XF (that looks like a Volvo). While Jag fans hope the recently released XF will revive the brand’s fortunes, the model it replaces soldiers on for another year. I got cozy with the doomed 2008 4.2 liter V8 S-Type to see what no one– or everyone– seems to be missing.

1989 Jaguar XJ12

Nothing like a Jag
I have been driving this model since 1996. When I first got it I was sure that I would be getting to know my mechanic well.
Over time it has proven to be a false notion. My Jag had been incredibly reliable, and has never let me down anywhere. I have traveled extensively in it and even been to the southern state where "they ain't no Jag-Wire mechanics" for miles around. Everyone loves the Jag down there and I was never worried once about a problem. The 12 cylinder engine was purrfect even in a traffic jam with the A'C on full blast at near one hundred degree temperature. The only thing I could live without is that 15 MPG I get in the city. But then again the car is paid for. I can buy a LOT of gas for what equals a car payment these days. I am currently restoring an already good car. So it is off the road this winter and I will put it in shows next year.

So there, best car I have ever had, a Jaguar XJ-12.
You may not hear that every day.

Excellent but expensive
I bought this car used in 2010 and have had very few issues with it. The biggest problem I had was that the tranny would lock in park if parked on a hill. A technical service bulletin fixed the problem. Parts are super expensive, so get 3rd party parts where possible. The 2000 model year only has one cup holder, so that can be a problem if you carry passengers often - I made an extra one to fit in the cassette holder. Performance is fantastic, gas mileage is better than expected (about 21 MPG with mostly city driving). It is a very comfortable car to drive and you can drive for a long time without getting uncomfortable.
