Volkswagen Passat 1995-2017Change

This is our Third Passat. I bought it used in 2011. We have owned 1991, 2003 and 2007 models. we love the ride. The 2007 Passat rides is very stable and comfortable. The interior is roomy. The back seat accommodates three adults comfortably. I appreciate the dual climate control when we go for a family outings. Passat has a large trunk. We are able to fit 4 languages in its trunk. This is a very reliable car.

Love everything about my Passat. It is smooth, quite, and has all the power you need. Classic car with no detail overlooked by VW.

Make sure you get the 2.0 T engine as it is the most reliable and great on fuel economy!

Amazing performance and comfort and 1200 kms per tank!! Amazing! Who can go wrong with those specs.

This indeed one of German cars even if it's relatively old (2001) but stills running good, great engine performance with nothing more than oil changing and filters.

With the age we feel the exterior having some rust, but the body is still in good shape.

Love the VW Passats - one of the best cars I've owned, have had 3 VWs over the last 20 years, they ride well and is comfortable, great German engineering, and interior is not cheap-looking. Upscale car for a decent price!

Have owned this car for about 3 years and it has been great. Handles well in the winter, and the heated seats are definitely a plus! Great mileage and fuel economy with a diesel! My only problem was starting it on cold winter days, but was solved by having an oil pan heater installed. Overall a great car to drive. Stereo in this car is nice too!

This car absolutely the most reliable, efficient and fun car to drive in the city and on the highway.

I have owned this car for 4 years and it is by far the best car I've owned (prior vehicles: BMW 328xi, Nissan Altima, Mazda MPV, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Corrolla, etc). Reliability has been exceptional - only service has been routine oil changes. Performance is better than BMW with better fuel economy. Get all the performance of a VW GTI or Audi A4 (same engine) without the price mark-up or added insurance cost! The engine and transmission provides an outstanding blend of power, performance and fuel economy. Understated elegance.

ITS A TERRIFIC RIDE!! Fun to drive, looks sharp, very eye catchy, and most importantly its very comfortable to drive!!

We had a 2.0T passat...unreal vehicle.
The turbo really gave the car a boost and made it fun to drive. Felt almost like a sports car. Seats were fairly comfortable in the back (I am 6'4). and unbelievably comfortable in the front. Handling was incredible. Pretty decent in the winter, although struggled with snow and ice sometimes because of the turbo, but that's just like most sedans. I would have to say the only con was the A/C. On the highest level (4) it blew pretty pathetically and took a while to cool up the car, now that being said it may have been because we had little to no tint on the window. As for the dash, we had a touch screen which at times was a tad confusing and a little laggy but other then that pretty impressive car for the price we paid.

This car is easy to drive and is very comfortable to ride. Engine has enough toque to move you in every situation.
Sunroof, Leather, Cruise is just plus.

Love driving this car, very responsive, excellent power yet still good gas mileage. Very comfortable for long trips or short hop to the store. Very good sound system, heated leather seats and professionally tinted windows. Very sharp looking vehicle !!

I haven't had any issues with this car, drives great (especially in the winter months) and has a peppy engine! I honestly don't think you can go wrong with a volkswagen.

The VW Passat 4Motion has been the best sedan I've ever owned. I've owned several cars and SUV's and this is my fave in terms of sedans. I had a new BMW that I really liked, but the Passat was a smoother and better ride by far.

We have found this car drive well overall. It still has no rust on it anywhere, and has plenty of life left in it.

Comfort: Good interior design, comfortable to drive and ride in. I have taken many road trips and cannot complain.
Performance: The standard model has no "get-up-and-go". It takes a long time to get up enough RPM's to shift out of an already short first gear. Otherwise it handles decently & is a fairly smooth ride.
Fuel Economy: Driving in city everyday a tank of regular unleaded gasoline usually last 1-2 wks. Once on highway fuel economy decreased significantly.
Interior Design: Poorly thought out dash/radio. Many cracks & gaps for dust, food & dirt to get into. Arm rest poorly designed & not strong enough to withstand minor pressure. Good visibility while driving no need to turn too much to see blind spots.
Exterior Styling: You won't get any second looks driving this car down the road. An unremarkable looking car.
Reliability: If you have lots of money to put into this car then it's great! Within 5 years of ownership the ABS went, water pump, tie rod ends, piston valves, clutch, struts, rear brakes, e-brake all went and needed repair. Repairs totalling over $5000 in 5 yrs of ownership. If you blindly love VW's & have money to endlessly pour into repairs then this car is for you!

I purchased this car second hand last year with about 42,000km recorded on the odometer.

After a full year of owning, I have mixed feelings on the car.

All in all, it has been a fairly reliable car, only having to replace the CCV sensor ($250). It can be slightly more expensive to up keep needing synthetic oil, and high octane gas. Plus, because of being of german origin, the parts to order are alightly more expensive.

The car performs very well. It has ample power when utilizing the turbo, the engine sounds good, and the car shifts very well. it handles nicely and brakes well. The streamlined interior is very attractive and you can tell this designers were very deliberate when composing the car and features.

However, I was pretty disappointed with the cabin noise on the highway and not a very subtle suspension. You tend to feel every contour and detail it he road surface while driving. This is was disppointing for being considerd a luxury sedan.

Also, I'm a relatively large male (6'2, 200lbs) I didnt have any space problem per se, but i find the seats are rather uncomfortbale. they seem to lack lumbar support. I find im constantly adjusting the seat on 2+ hour drive to relieve my fatiguing back. (I'm also only 27 yrs old)

If you don't drive the car like a sports car-- which it has the capacity to do-- it can be relatively fuel efficient. Not by modern cars standards though. If you drive aggresively i say city mileage would tend to be 16L/100km (city). If you drive conservatively, like early braking and feathering the gas from a complete stop, it mileage can be managed to about 10-11l/100km in the city. Steady highway cruising can be as low as 8L/100km.

Ive put on 45,000 kms since owning and has been reliable vehicle with no performaces hiccups. Just standard maintenace required like any other vehicle.

great drive and safety with the 4motion,very powerful v6,reasonable on gas for v6 engine. get my ids to the ski slope in no time

This is in my opinion the ultimate commuter car if you have to travel on the highway more than 15 minutes daily.
The comfort and spacious interior makes it a dream to drive and the TDI engine is very powerful and paired perfectly with the DSG auto transmission.

Never has a problem will never break down, beautiful interior and exterior, will drive up to a million km i guarantee that

Handles great with lots of get up and go. Interior is luxurious and well designed. All mod cons make this sedan a wonderfully reliable and enjoyable vehicle to drive.

Hi absolutely love the VW Passat TDI. This car is comfortable, has amazing power and tourque and best of all... yields over 1100kms on a single tank of fuel. It handles and drives exceptionally well and looks absolutely amazing. GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!!

The car is very smooth and stable and reliable. I personally don't find the exterior design very attractive.

This Passatt is reliable, comfortable & good on gas. I love it!!! I am planning on buying another one.
