1998 Ford Escort

Trim: cool

Very reliable, great zetec engine
Had this car for 13 years now, got it when it was 180k on it, now it close to 500k. Had to replace the clutch, breaks, ball joints, outer tie rods, alternator, did all 4 shocks at around 400k. Oil change every 10k and the engine burns no oil. Very reliable and gets you 6L/100km highway, 7.5L/100km city. I got it down to 5.5L/100km on the highway driving very carefully. I have a newer focus and this car has proven to be more reliable than the newer focus with far fewer things that break.

Love to drive it. Lots of room. Very Comfortable.
This car has been one of the best I've owned. It's easy to drive, lots of room for passengers and seats fold down for more storage room. It's a tight ride. Love sitting up so high, seats are heated, Sirius, Cruise Control, Bluetooth, leather seats - loaded!

Love this car, very reliable
My first Ford car and definitely not the last. This car is fun to drive, practical, fuel efficient, reliable, and inexpensive to maintain. Had it for 10 years and properly maintained it. Never gave me problems in my driving experience nor in my pocket.

BEST CAR IVE EVER DRIVEN!
Basic Car, no air conditioning, has 5-speed. Bought it in 1998 with 32000km on it to haul my kids everywhere..lol. For 14 year through Ontario/Alberta Winters to driving across Canada twice packed to the gills with packed moving boxes.. this little car never ever let me down...Religiously did the oil change every 5000km, only major repair was a ball joint..Absolutely fantastic car...I just sold it in 2013 with 280km on it to a student driving back & forth to school. Now I gotta find another car that will last me as long with the great perfomance I got from my Escort

Trusty companion
I've owned this car since 1998; it was my first car. Overall, I have had a really good experience driving this car and I am pleased with its performance. It has been a dependable and enjoyable ride.

Very reliable
It has been well taken care of and rarely driven. New breaks were put in last year. Has had continual maintenance and is in great condition. Has had two owners, and is very clean and well taken care of.

1997 For Escort
I purchased this vehicle used when it was about 4 years old. It has been a very reliable vehicle and I've had no major problems with it, just the usual repairs that are needed brakes etc. It did have a recall because of a possible problem with the airbags, but it was fixed quickly. The ride is comfortable although it seems small inside for our family of five. The interior seems basic but okay.

Review
Pretty impressive car considering its age, not real complaints parts wise. Nearly 17 years old and I'm only starting to replace the original parts. I have lost daytime running lights but its not a necessity since you can just use your headlights. It's age really shows in fuel consumption though.

1994 Ford Escort
best car I owned. Sporty, sleek and quick. A great gas mizer. I found the car to meet all my needs. A roomy cargo area for shopping and a good size back seat. I loved the car.

Average car in all ways
It wasn't as bad as I expected, although the frame rusted faster than any car I've ever had. The lack of style of the car is obviously a minus, as well as its fuel economy. The other compact car I use spends half less fuel than this car.

1997 Ford Escort

Best kept compact car secret
After owning this car for nearly 250,000km, I feel I have become very acquainted with it. I purchased it off lease from a Ford dealer in 2000 with only 25,000 km on the clock. The car has only needed oil changes, brakes, and rear shocks/struts replaced once in the time I've owned it. There has been no other maintenance required. Even the timing belt is still original - this is a non-interference engine so there isn't any damaged caused when the timing belt finally goes. I would recommend the 1997+ Escorts to anyone.

1996 Ford Escort

Good for the age
It was a good reliable car. Started well in the winter. For an older car you can't beat it. It drove really nice was great on gas considering the year. Repair bills got to be a lot though in the end.

some miner problems but overall a really nice low cost car the only real problem i have found with 2 of these cars are the timing belt breaks a little to easy

Not the best Buy
Needed so much "Small Parts" and man are they expensive - Mep sensor was never satisfied
Needed new Exhaust after 3000 kms, and it never sounded the same again.
Very uncomfortable and man what a labour job to do minor maintenance, and parts were unusual sizes, needed special tools just to change out

1999 Ford Escort
I have had no troubles with this car. Only real issue I have is I wish it got better fuel mileage.
I have a 4 door. The trunk is large enough.
My other half feels it is too small for him (he is 6') and that you feel every bump in the road.

Ford Escort is really average car. Looses its value very quickly specially if it's a brand new car. The older car get expect to pay more for maintenance. There are better cars on the market for the same class car with relatively the same price range.

Great starter car
I had mine for the past 4 years and it is a great little car. Very light, decent on gas, low cost to buy for someone looking for a first car. I have had some issues with mine but it is things that could happen to any car and was well worth the money I put up for it. I would keep it longer if I wasn't working full time and wanting to treat myself to something nicer. I will miss it

The car that just keeps on going.
I have had this car for years, it just keeps on going, nothing ever goes wrong with it. I notice them all over the place, so none of them ever seem to quit. The only complaint is that the dash board is ugly, otherwise they are a treasure.

2002 Ford Escort

Hated Fords until the Escort
I had a few Fords before my escort and the cars just never lasted. Then came along the Escort. For the 7 years I owned this car I was only at the dealer for repairs maybe 2 times.
Fuel Milage: If only cars of today had fuel milage like the Ford Escort. Very good milage
Interior: The interior was the average car. Bucket seats in the front were very comfortable and the back seat area was very rooomy.
Exterior: Next the end of my 7 years the car was showing some signs of rust.
Final Comments: After my 7 years with this car I sold it to a young teenager who got another 3 years out of the car
