2015 Kia Optima Hybrid

by LeePlay on 09-22-2017
Great fuel economy with a learning curve.
You can't drive a hybrid like a regular car and expect to get exceptional performance. You must try not to speed, allow her to coast downhill. Avoid accelerating out of turns. Use the cruise control and eco mode whenever possible. I've had mine for about 2 years and can get some pretty crazy mileage. You can get 850-950 km from a tank of gas if you are willing to learn to drive better.

Love this car
This Car is a great purchase. It rides/handles really well. The fuel economy is great. I also think that all the standard equipement in it has great value and this is all factory standard. I would recommend this vehicle to anybody who is looking for a great value and reliable car.

2012 Kia Optima Hybrid

Beautiful car, but don't be fooled...
After reading the other reviews claims that I have read about this car fuel economy, I felt a need to set the record straight. Don't get me wrong, I love my 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid Premium and it has been an excellent car since I bought it new in 2012, but it does have a couple short comings.

1. It's no secret that the fuel economy is not as advertised by the manufacturer and this was established with the outcome of a class action law suit that awarded owners a small amount in damages for their lost savings at the pump. After four years and 80,000 km, I have averaged 9l/100km or between 600 - 800 km per tank of gas. I noted that I wasn't getting the expected fuel economy early on and took it to the dealership to have it checked out. The tech that worked on my car owned the same model and had the same experience. He said he could make some tweaks that might help a little, but it didn't make much of a difference. The same tech and I were speaking not long ago and he told me that he sold his Optima after three years and bought a Kia Soul EV.

2. Trunk space is reduced to accommodate the electric engine making this car less than ideal for long trips with a lot of luggage.

3. The Premium model comes with the Navigation feature and it costs about $200 to update the maps. A disappointing money-grab, given that a Garmin GPS with lifetime map updates costs about the same.

Apart from the issues noted above, the car is excellent in every other way. I chose this model over a 2012 Mercedes Benz C300 (which has many of the same features), saved $18k, and got a car with just as much and perhaps even better styling, but that's a matter of taste I suppose.

Love this car
Test drove this vehicle and it was the most amazing ride ever. Going to buy one i the summer definately. Its stylish, comfortable and the gas milage is amazing. Went 200 miles and the gas did move at all. Music system is crazy loud and even with the bumpiest roads in canada . It was so smooth. The only thing i had a problem with was my husband who said i cant have one till the summer, so excited love this car

2012 Kia Optima Hybrid

The BEST vehicle we've owned !
We traded in our Kia Soul for the new Optima Hybrid when we transferred jobs and required a 90min commute. Our beautiful black Kia Optima Hybrid is by far the best car we've ever owned ! .. we can EASILY get 1700-2000kms out of ONE TANK!! (both city/hwy). We even went as far as putting a hitch on it and we pulled our tent trailer to Cape Cod and back from Ontario this past summer. We couldnt believe the mileage we were getting even while pulling a tent trailer!!! ... All our friends are jealous, our family keeps thinking its a Jaguar and we love the styling, comfort, reliability and fuel mileage. We put alot of miles on our car, we've only owned it since brand new in April 2012 and we already have over 52,000kms on it !!! .. our 2012 Dodge Journey R/T can't even hold a candle to our Kia <3
