2003 Kia Sedona

by KarenLH1921 on 06-15-2017
Not the best, But I feel safe.
Honestly, Kia is a good vehicle. Parts are hard to come by because it is usually a crash that kills it, so not much salvageable for the parts yards. If you can find one at least 2 years or 100,000 km old, all its glitches should have worked out by then. Sedona's solid steel frame means not ideal gas mileage, but I feel safe inside it. Seats are heavy & clumsy to remove. Not as wide as others, so less storage space. I take the seats out for camping, and the double mattress I used in another make doesn't fit. However, I was able to move a couch & loveseat in it at once. I would not buy this minivan again unless there are some design changes. I have owned it 9 years, and only major issues have been fuel pump and now speedometer stopped working. It's a good car, but I need something with easier removal of seats.

Awesome family vehicle and road tripping machine!
We love our minivan! Bought it brand new and it has never given us a problem. Very comfortable, roomy, powerful, and dependable. We have pulled a good size boat with this van and it is fantastic with towing. Can't beat the value of this vehicle. It is crazy the amount of big items we have hauled in our van. Can't beat the practicality, especially with kids and pets in tow.

Would recommend to anybody! Would purchase a Kia again in a heartbeat!

very good perforamnce!
I am still amazed at the amount of power and responsiveness
the engine has. Even my Honda pilot (same size of engine and
fuel consumption) does not match it!

2006 Kia Sedona

Trim: EX Power
by KAS10 on 10-24-2014
Super comfy but the electrical is a NIGHTMARE!
We bought our 2006 Sedona new, and chose the EX Power primarily because it was the only Sedona model then that had Electronic Stability Control. Non-stop electrical issues since then. The head/rear lights and signal lights are constantly blowing--we've even had to replace the sockets. Adjustable rear mirrors have a mind of their own. The locks go through stages where they lock on their own. The horn broke. The wiper control arm had to be replaced. The sensor for the intermittent wiper mode has never worked properly. There is a mystery drain on the battery--we are on our 4th battery in 8 years. Less than 2 months after our current battery was put in, the car started to die on the highway--engine light came on, etc.--neither the mechanic I took it to nor the Kia dealership could find the problem (battery was new, alternator was fine). Works for now, but I'm waiting for that to happen again. The biggest problems now are the power sliding doors--one hasn't worked for 2 years (with power or manually), and the other was just "fixed" by the local dealership but is even worse now, barely opens, and Kia told me the part to "fix" it again will be $1600 (before labor). There are other issues--too many to list.
It is a very comfortable car to drive and the features are nice--when they work. Our specific van is not a lemon itself. The problems are typical of the model and year (google "2006 Kia Sedona electrical" and you'll see what I mean). My overall rating should more accurately be 1 star (the final rating that appears is the average of my honest individual ratings). Always worried that something electrical will fail, causing an immediate safety issue. Would not have bought it if I had known we would have 8 years of headaches.

Excellent
I have enjoyed the features of this vehicle, example my garage opener, my children enjoyed watching movies on our vacation trips for example to Virginia Beach. I have no problems with this vehicle, everything works with the exception of the backup indicator. It is fully loaded.
Whether you have driver a Van before or not you will appreciate the kilometers covered with the vehicle along with its maintenance, never missed an oil change as scheduled.

It's a terrific ride
When I first drove this vehicle I couldn't believe the ride, and performance. No other vehicle that I have driven in the past 50 years has handled this way.
The seating is very comfortable, and well laid out.
The handling is very precise and on the light side.
The detail to finish on this vehicle is exceptional, and wisely done.
It is a little heavy on gas, but I do mostly city driving and the gauges tell me 17 km's plus. This van weighs more than most vans, and it tells in the ride.
It lacks tilt steering but that is offset by the power seats.
The other seats come out if you want them to.
I am going to miss it but health comes first.

It's a terrific vehicle
I have been driving this van since April 2013.
This van is very easy to maneuver and drive.
It has very responsive steering, good vision, and very comfortable seating compared to North American vehicles that I have driven in the past.
It seems to be very well built as it weighs over 4000 lbs.
It feels very solid in build compared to some other vehicles.
I wouldn't be selling if not for health reasons.
It is a dream to drive.

GREAT COMFORTABLE AND RELIABLE
I have owned this car since 2008, great family van, no complaints! Perfect for my family and everyday car, most of the KM's are from driving it to work. Very comfortable and clean. Maintained and serviced regularly. Email for more information if interested. Prices can be discussed as well!

Not the best but an OK entry level van
My Chrysler Neon gave up on me so I had to get a car, FAST. I bought this van in used condition for a reasonable price. I have some complains but not nearly as many complains I had for my Chrysler. First thing first, this is a gas hog; it wouldn't touch Toyota Sienna in Fuel Economy, but I'm pretty sure it's worse than Honda Odyssey as well.

Second complain I have is - cheaply made parts. It breaks apart a lot - it too plasticy for my liking and have to constantly replace things.

It's alright I guess
I have had some problems with power windows/locks and some with the speed sensor. Still runs pretty well, only 140 000 kilometers so lots of life left in it (I hope). 3.6 V6 engine is a little heavy on gas to be driving everyday but, I still do so !

surprizing performance
My kia has 3.8l and has gobs of power. I love this van, and so do my kids. Third row seating collapses easily and second row captains seats come out to allow for lots of cargo. Excellent vehicle for price and insurance rates were cheaper than other vans that I compared it against.

My Kia Rivals Honda and Toyota
I understand Kia is a newer brand in North America, however the quality the put into the small details, such as the little spring loaded latches in all the little interior compartments...can only mean they have put the same measure of quality into the rest of the vechicle. This is the second Sedona we have owned...previouly a 2006 EX, that we loved just as much, however it came to an early death because of my stupidity. My opinion, if you have kids, the extra cost of the DVD player is well worth it. Additionally, for those long trips...nothing works better to quiet the kids then turning up the heat using the zoned climate controls and making them fall asleep.

Enjoy your Kia, I know we do.

Best Van ever!
We have 5 kids and have owned vans our entire parenthood years. Every van we have felt squished up in. Our Kia is very roomy. We went on vacation and didn't have totie any luggage to the roof. This year it all fit inside with us!

We bought it used and have had it for 23 years now. Very dependable and have not had to make any major repairs.
