Stylish, reliable and safe
This is a no-nonsense car with excellent reliability and safety. It drives well and its looks haven't diminished with time.

I like this car
I just bought this 2005 v50 a month ago, with only 40,000 km. I absolutely love the design, comfort, and solidity of this little car. To my mind, it handles extremely well, and inspires confidence. Interestingly, it seems that road noise dissipates as speed increases. However, I find the engine a bit noisy, especially at higher revs. I also find that is quite underpowered. But I am happy with this car, and expect to keep it for some time. I would love to have found a T5 with a 6-speed manual, but they as rare as unicorns.

Great little-big car. Loads of space, good handling and beautiful styling. Has been very reliable aside from normal wear and tear. Super comfortable seats and fantastic cargo capacity!

Volvo for life!
This was our first Volvo and won't be our last! We purchased our V50 with 85000kms on it and have put 53000 on it. The only repair required over regular maintenance was a faulty key sensor. Very comfortable and quiet ride. FWD is more than adequate for the BC mountain winters with a good set of winter tires. We test drove almost every vehicle in it's class before buying volvo and the drive, ride, and comfort are unmatched. We always feel safe in this car knowing that we are riding with legendary volvo safety!

Reliable, comfortable and stylish
Reliable, comfortable and stylish. Not a sporty drive but no slouch either. It's not a cheap car to own but it doesn't look or feel cheap either and has proven to be one of the favorites I've owned. Quietly stole my affections.

Love my Volvo V50. Great alternative to an SUV
Great car, roomy interior with lots of room for family and two large dogs. Good for camping and road trips, but still small enough to park easily and move around the city. Good mileage. Glad I traded in the SUV.

2007 Volvo V50

Volvo V50
Purchased used with 98,000KM from a Volvo dealer in September 2012. Car was well cared for by previous owner. I've had two sensors fail after putting 10,000 KM on - accelerator and transmission. I like the styling, fuel economy (regular gas), comfort and leather heated seats. I would have liked a few more options as this car is on the basic end of things. The car is quiet, which is also wonderful. Stereo is pretty good. The practicality of the small wagons is endless. I wished the car came with the roof rails...that will be an additional cost for me. The styling of this car will remain current for many years to come. The 5 cyl. engine is wonderful and smooth. Much better than 4 cyl. engines. So far so good!

good looking, perfect family car!
The volvo V50 has been the perfect family car for us these past years - it is comfortable, stylish with minimalist interior design, a true classic. incredible amount of space in the back cabin and lots of leg room in the back seats. always fun to drive with lots of power and great on gas!

Volvo V50
The V50 is a great second family car with enough room for the kids and a dog. the interior gives the impression that you're driving an IKEA product with simplistic lines and controls. Overall the V50 has been great around the city and on the highway but could use a little more passing power (base 2.4i). Reliable and somewhat sporty looks for a family cruiser. I would recommend to those wanted an economical, safe and moderately stylish wagon.

Comfortable, quiet load lugger
Fantastic car for plugging along the highway with a load of gear. Volvo always make the most comfortable seats and ergonomics and this one is no different. Superb electrically adjustable heated front seats, you can drive for 4 hours straight and hop out like it was a 20 minute spin round the block.
Rides very smoothly, very quiet with good controlled damping, great on the highway and with responsive steering and body control, good fun on the twisty stuff. Auto box shifts nicely although kick-down can be a little hesitant when overtaking. Not a fast car by any means, but it can be pretty sprightly under acceleration and the 5 cylinder engine emits a lovely burble when pressed. Good equipment, electric windows/mirrors, headlight washers, moonroof, auto climate etc.
Plenty of room in the back, and the trunk, although not as big as on the V70, is well shaped and can hold a huge amount of gear. Drop the seats and you can literally fit a bed in it.
Fuel consumption is OK, around 10L/100km overall with mostly town driving, highway use only should see around 800km from a tank.
Overall, very happy with this car, stylish, premium feel about it, good to drive, good to look at and very practical.

Exceptional performance and fuel economy!
Extremely satisfied with the car's performance, surprisingly great fuel economy (up to 40 MPG on the highway) and versatility. Quite incredible for a station wagon!

Safety first...witha bit of style
I have two toddlers, and this car makes me feel extremely safe on the road and stylish at the same time. Could use a bit more space in the back, but the front end is quite spacious.
