Alfa Romeo officially unveiled its Giulia Quadrifoglio sport sedan last fall at the Los Angeles auto show, so we know the lineup will be based around a four-door with a 505-hp turbocharged V6 engine.
This Italian automaker -- which comes to us through its affiliation with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) -- has chosen the east coast for the reveal of the more mainstream members of the Giulia family, set to be revealed at next week's New York auto show.
The base Giulia and a Ti trim will share a twin-turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that makes 276 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and comes matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission with optional paddle shifters. Alfa says this powertrain is good for a 0-to-100 km/h sprint of "less than 5.5 seconds;" a "DNA selector" drive mode control allows the choice of dynamic, natural, and advanced efficiency modes.
The engine uses the MultiAir electro-hydraulic valvetrain we know from existing Fiat and Alfa models, as well as direct fuel injection and an air-to-water intercooler.
A "Q4" all-wheel drive system is optional.
Standard kit includes a carbon fibre driveshaft, 17-inch wheels, dual exhaust with bright tips, leather seats, seven-inch colour driver information display, intelligent keyless entry, flat-bottomed steering wheel, and an "Alfa-tainment" system with either 6.5- or 8.8-inch screens with what the automaker calls an industry-first "hidden widescreen infotainment display."
Neat tech includes Alfa's electromechanical "integrated braking system" that can vary brake feel based on the chosen DNA selector setting, which Alfa says "delivers new levels of brake response and stopping distance."
The Quadrifoglio gets an active front aero splitter, a DNA Pro drive mode selector with a race setting, torque vectoring rear differential, and an active suspension that's optional in the mid-range Ti model.
