Ram Recalls Mopar Aftermarket Pickup Truck Seat Covers

Fiat Chrysler America's Ram truck brand is recalling 42 examples of its 1500 pickup truck model not for a problem with the trucks themselves, but to take back Mopar aftermarket seat covers that could interfere with side airbag deployment.

Mopar is a long-standing brand that sells aftermarket bits and baubles for a wide range of the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Ram brands sold under the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles banner; somehow, someone signed off on a seat cover that didn't take into account some versions of the trucks it was meant to fit being optioned with front seat side airbags. The affected trucks were sold in model years 2012 through 2016.

Transport Canada says it published this recall "for information purposes only," as the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard doesn't cover aftermarket items. FCA is asking those who have bought the seat covers to remove them immediately and return them to a Ram dealer for a full refund.
