Lincoln Refreshes MKC for 2018

Lincoln is giving the MKC compact crossover an update for 2019. It comes with a new look, new interior trims, plus more connectivity and tech features.

The MKC gets a significant styling upgrade. It drops Lincoln's last-generation two-piece waterfall grille for the big, bold, and mostly square nose of the brand's newest offerings like the Navigator. The old nose, most prominent on the full-size MKX always looked out of place on the smaller vehicles like the MKC. The new nose, with chrome mesh grille, looks much more at home. Flanking that grille are restyled LED headlights. Lincoln says that the rear gets an update as well, but a chrome strip above the licence plate frame seems to be the extent of the rear-end remodel.

Inside, the MKC gets the latest version of Lincoln's infotainment system, Sync3. It has Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. The crossover also adds the Lincoln Way app that gives concierge service, provides interactive parking info, and allows control of the vehicle's locks and remote start via your phone.

The MKC gets pedestrian detection added to its forward collision warning system. The MKC's available Technology Package also includes radar cruise, park assist, and lane guidance.

Lincoln is adding three premium interior themes to the new MKC. The three Black Label designs are Modern Heritage, Indulgence, and Center Stage. The first has white Venetian leather with Argento wood accents. Indulgence adds Alcantara in warm Truffle and Ganache hues, with Ziricote wood, a richly grained wood which is often used in yacht interiors. Center Stage adds diamond perforation to the Alcantara seats with bright red piping. It uses exotic wood accents, with jet black leather.

Powertrain choices are unchanged, with the 245 hp 2.0L and 285 hp 2.3L four-cylinder turbo engines carrying over.

The 2019 MKC will arrive at Lincoln dealers this summer.
