The Toyota Supra has made its public debut today at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. While the prototype is still camo-clad, it's the first time the public has seen the car on the move.
The GR Supra Racing prototype was our first real look at the Supra, revealed in March at the Geneva auto show. But at the time they weren't telling us much about it, and the race-ready prototype was more track car than street car. It had massive flares, an even bigger rear wing, and a stripped-down interior.
Now we know that the new Supra is going to maintain the front-mounted inline-six engine that the model name is known for. The new car, on a shared platform with an upcoming BMW roadster will be rear-drive and fast-looking.
Despite the wrap, this is our best look at the new Supra. The open-wheel car inspired nose, short rear deck lid, short overhangs, and wide side skirts.
The Supra will be making runs up the hill at the Festival of Speed, and will be on display for festival-goers. The GR Supra Racing Concept will sit alongside the new Supra and the LeMans-winning Toyota TS050 Hybrid.
Toyota expects the production Supra to hit the showroom sometime in the first half of next year. And if you can't make it to Goodwood, here's some video of the car's opening run.
