Buick Adds Avenir Flagship To Regal Range

Buick's mid-size Regal Sportback moves into its second year on the market with a new flagship trim, becoming the brand's third Canadian model to adopt the upscale Avenir designation.

The General Motors brand says the decision to extend its use of the Avenir trim to its least-expensive car model reflects its success in Buick's other model lines. The company says that buyers of the LaCrosse full-size sedan and Enclave mid-size crossover choose the Avenir trim more than others in those vehicle ranges, and Avenir comprises nearly a third of Enclave sales.

As the range-topping trim, the Regal Avenir will come standard with advanced features offered as options in lesser variants, including a "whisper beige" interior theme, diamond-stitched front seats, rear park assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert with lane change alert, auto-leveling LED headlights, auto-dimming driver's side mirror, navigation and a Bose eight-speaker stereo.

Power comes from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, which goes to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Buick says Regal Avenir pricing will be announced early this fall, when the new trim is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across Canada.
