Chevrolet Reveals Second 2020 Silverado HD Trim

If you saw the reveal of Chevrolet's latest HD pickups earlier this week and were less than enthused about that aggressive new nose, then you might find this one a little more reassuring. It's the new High Country, with a less polarizing front grille, and it comes with news that Chevy will offer five distinct versions of the HD pickup.

"Truck customers are very clear: They want the perfect truck for them and not a ‘one size fits most’ truck compromised for the masses," said Mike Simcoe, vice president, Global Design, General Motors. That means that the company will do more to differentiate each of the trim levels with new styling and not just more stuff inside and fancy wheels. Well, they'll still probably have more stuff inside and fancy wheels, they'll just also have new grilles. Something Ford has also implemented recently, giving each F-150 a nose to set apart each individual trim.

The 2020 Silverado HD will come in five trims: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country. Each of the five will get a unique grille, along with other distinct styling details. Some will get the name-stamped grille bar we saw earlier this week, some will get a more conventional nose and bow-tie bar like this one, and there will be black, body colour, and chrome noses.

This High Country nose is still far from subtle, but it's definitely going to be less controversial than the one we saw previously, which was the LT model. Expect Chevrolet to trickle out the rest of the trims, though probably not as close together as the first two, as the February launch approaches. The trucks are set to go on sale in the middle of next year.
