The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe isn't that old, having just debuted in 2016, but it's time for a refresh. The sleek crossover gets revised styling front and rear along with some new tech, updated engines, and a new infotainment system.
Standard LED headlights showcase a slightly revised grille that adds a new element to the Mercedes diamond stud pattern. In the front bumper, the lower grilles have also been widened and now extend over the lower opening instead of sitting alongside. At the back, new taillights and a new rear diffuser give the styling a bit of a freshening.
Inside, the changes are more prominent. Look to the dashboard and there's an optional 12.3-inch digital cluster with three different designs to pick from. There are two multimedia screens, 7.0 and 10.25-inches, both using the new MBUX infotainment system.
That new interface means that Benz has dropped the rotary Comand controller in place of some new ways to operate. Like touch control on the display, touch control on the new steering wheel, yet more touch control on a center console touchpad, and voice control using the 'Hey Mercedes' prompt. An MBUX Augmented Reality navigation is available, which uses video taken from the front camera and overlays signs and directions, displaying the full picture on the infotainment system screen.
A powertrain update puts a new four-cylinder in the GLC Coupe. Up 14 hp over the current model, the 2.0L turbo four puts out 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a nine-speed automatic and drives all four wheels.
Expect the new GLC Coupe to get a full reveal at the New York auto show next month and arrive on sale later this year.
