Subaru Canada today announced pricing for its all-new 2020 Legacy sedan and Outback crossover models, which start at $26,395 and $30,695, respectively.
Beyond the pair's updated styling, both boast new engines and add LED headlights and Subaru's EyeSight driver assist suite as standard equipment for the first time. There's also an available 11.6-inch vertically oriented infotainment display, and a 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine replaces last year's naturally aspirated six-cylinder as the uplevel power source.
At their respective entry points, the Legacy and Outback share a 2.5L four-cylinder that is 90 percent new compared to last year's version. It makes 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque, increases of 7 hp and 2 lb-ft.
The new turbo mill (borrowed from the larger Ascent SUV) is good for 260 hp and 277 lb-ft, bumps of 4 hp and 30 lb-ft compared to the outgoing 3.6L six-cylinder.
In entry-level Convenience trim, Legacy and Outback are both standard with dual 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreens, automatic climate control, heated front seats, a 10-way power driver's seat and an electric parking brake. Notable additions as you move up the trim ladder include reverse automatic braking and the up-sized touchscreen (Touring), heated steering wheel and heated rear seats (Limited), and Nappa leather with ventilated front seats (Premier).
In both cars, the turbo engine is optional in Limited and Premier trims; the Outback also uses it in an Outdoor trim that gets snow/dirt and deep snow/mud settings for its X-Mode AWD system, plus a front-view camera, all-weather floor mats, and a full-size spare tire.
Both models are set to reach Canadian Subaru showrooms this fall.
