2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Gets Android Auto, Two-tone Roof Option

The Toyota Corolla Hatchback was overhauled last year, but that doesn't mean the automaker has stopped making improvements. For 2020, the Corolla Hatchback gets an updated infotainment system, a new two-tone roof option, an all-black trim option, and some new colour choices. And a $70 price hike.

Toyota's Corolla hatchback was all-new last year, and with the redesign, the company continued its attempts to appeal to drivers wanting a more dynamic experience. So it offers a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching on downshifts to make you sound like a pro every time you shift. It's smoother that way, too. There's also a CVT for those who want an auto, with 10 fake ratios accessed by paddle-shifters. Powering both options is a 168 hp 2.0L four.

For 2020, Android Auto has finally been added to join Apple CarPlay, which was included as standard equipment right from the car's launch in 2019. The system also adds Connected Services by Toyota that adds features like Remote Connect, Safety Connect, and Service Connect on higher trim models.

A new black roof option lets buyers pick a two-tone paint scheme with colours like bronze oxide or silver for the base. The XSE trim adds more two-tone choices. A new Nightshade trim line comes with black 18-inch alloys, black mirror caps and door handles, as well as other black-out trim.

The 2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback starts from $21,050 in Canada. That's $70 more than last year for the base model, with other trims seeing increases of up to $980. The new hatch is available at dealers now.
