Pricing for 'More Affordable' 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S Announced

On Thanksgiving Monday, Porsche gave fans of its electric car a reason to give thanks by laying out the details of its least-expensive Taycan variant yet.

The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S is the new entry-level model of the range, with a "more affordable" $119,400 price tag, nearly a hundred grand less than the wild Turbo S model.

That lower price also comes with more modest performance. Porsche fits the Taycan 4S with a 79.2 kWh battery pack (the bigger battery from the Turbo and Turbo S is an option) that limits power output to 522 hp in overboost and 407 km driving range, while the optional pack bumps that to 562 hp and 463 km of range.

Note that those range estimates were calculated according to the optimistic WLTP (worldwide harmonized light-vehicle test procedure), so don't expect the car to get that much range in real-world driving.

Still, the Taycan 4S's drivetrain is good enough for a 4.0-second 0-100 km/h sprint and a 250-km/h top speed. For reference, the 750-hp Turbo S is good for a blistering 2.8 seconds to 100 km/h.

The Taycan 4S maintains the AWD and two-speed rear transmission of its more powerful siblings.

Taycan 4S models come standard with trim-specific 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers in place of the Turbo version's yellow ones and unique front apron, rear diffuser and side skirts. Inside is a partial leather interior with eight-way power seats.

Porsche is taking orders for the Taycan 4S in advance of its arrival in Canada in summer 2020.
