Calligraphy Edition Gives 2021 Hyundai Palisade New Top Trim

Hyundai is putting a new, expressive twist on its popular full-size Palisade crossover. The Calligraphy trim adds some of the coolest 20-inch alloys around as well as a special front fascia, fancier headliner, and gorgeous quilted door panels.

The brand says that in the two model years that the Palisade has been on the market, nearly half of buyers hadn't considered Hyundai before, and that half of shoppers were taking home the top-spec Ultimate trim. Hyundai says that's "a much higher take rate than most vehicles," which we'd call a serious understatement, especially for a brand that has traditionally focused on price.

The Calligraphy's most obvious exterior change is the new set of 20-inch alloys that show a wonderfully complex webbed pattern, setting off the rest of the Palisade's elegant styling. It's also packing a unique front fascia and new front lighting signatures front and rear along with new trim for the side doors and puddle lamps.

On the inside, the diamond-quilt leather door panels will quickly catch your eyes, but look up and you'll see a microfiber suede headliner. The steering wheel is perforated to let your hands breathe, and a new grey Nappa leather combination with blue dash and trim is on the options list.

All Canadian Palisades get standard LED lighting for 2021 along with laminated glass to quiet the cabin. Essential and Preferred trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto as well as letting you connect multiple devices at once. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade should start showing up at dealers next month, with pricing to follow.
