Nissan is updating the Versa sedan for 2023 with a new front end. There are no big mechanical changes in store, but Nissan has tweaked the interior, adding an available larger screen and making wireless charging available on more models. What might be the most notable feature of the 2023 Nissan Versa sedan is that it exists at all, showing that the brand is making a commitment to the affordable small car segment that has been largely abandoned by other automakers.
Gone is the old Nissan "V-Motion" grille and its bright swaths of chrome. This new version gives the car a handsome face that seems better integrated with the rest of the design of the vehicle. Helping that are the new 17-inch alloy wheels on the SR trim, the ones shown in the photos.
All Versa sedans get a 1.6L four-cylinder engine making 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. The entry S model continues to offer a five-speed manual, with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) optional on that trim and standard on the SV and SR. Estimated fuel economy is 8.6 L/100 km city and 6.7 highway with the stick or 7.4 and 5.9 with the CVT.
The S trim car includes driver assistance features like automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning. The SV adds automatic headlights, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. It gets a wireless charge pad this year and upgrades the 7.0-inch multimedia screen of the S to have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The top-spec Versa SR gains adaptive cruise control this year. Also new are a centre console armrest and an 8.0-inch centre screen.
The 2023 Nissan Versa sedan is expected to go on sale by the end of the year. We expect pricing closer to the on-sale date.
