The 11th-generation 2023 Honda Accord has debuted with an all-new look and two hybrid models at the top of the lineup.
The popular sedan adopts the Japanese automaker's new design language that's already been shown on the new HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, and Civic, along with some unique retro-inspired tail lights.
The new Accord will be available in three trims, starting with the EX, which is powered by a carryover turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine. This engine is unchanged from the previous generation and still offers 192 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. From there, the Sport and Touring models will only be available as hybrids. Honda says the hybrid models will be the most powerful Accords ever with 247 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 15 lb-ft from the previous hybrid model) and 204 horsepower from a new two-motor hybrid system combined with an efficient 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
Honda says the new Accord boasts "more confident and refined dynamics, improved responsiveness, and a more fun-to-drive personality" along with Google integration and a head-up display in the Touring model.
Top trims get a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but all models are equipped to get over-the-air software updates. The standard touchscreen is 10.2 inches and Honda says it has made sweeping changes to the interior to make it feel more upscale, user-friendly, and comfortable.
Honda has also packed the new Accord full of both passive and active safety features. The already advanced setup has been bolstered with new types of airbags along with sensors and cameras with wider fields of view, which improves the range and accuracy of the adaptive cruise control systems and other safety and driver assistants.
Pricing and availability for the 2023 Honda Accord will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
