2023 North American Car, Truck, Utility Vehicle of the Year Winners Announced

The Acura Integra, Ford F-150 Lightning, and the Kia EV6 are taking home the 2023 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) awards.

This year's awards season started with 47 eligible vehicles. Representing a tie for the most eligible vehicles in the history of the awards, the list includes all cars, trucks, and utility vehicles that were new or substantially changed for 2023.

From the initial 47, the field was narrowed to three finalists in each category. The vehicles were driven and judged by a jury made up of 50 leading automotive journalists in North America including AutoTrader's own Editor-in-Chief Jodi Lai.

For North American Car of the Year, the Acura Integra beat the Genesis G80 EV and Nissan Z finalists.

"The Acura Integra revives a beloved name with a car worthy of the moniker. Fun to drive and economical, it’s the type of car I would look forward to driving every day," said juror Kirk Bell.

Last year's winner was the Honda Civic, the car on which the Integra is based.

Ford's win for North American Truck of the Year with the F-150 Lightning is the brand's third win in a row. The Ford Maverick won last year, and the gas-powered F-150 the year before that. The other two finalists were the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 and the Lordstown Endurance electric pickup.

"Save the reinvention," said juror Bengt Halvorson. "The F-150 Lightning shows how the most familiar vehicle in American life can be made even better as an EV, and it’s fantastic.”

North American Utility of the Year goes to the Kia EV6. The electric Kia beat out fellow finalists the Cadillac Lyriq and Genesis GV60 making this category all electric.

"The Kia EV6 blends attractive styling, eye-popping performance in the GT, and tremendous range in a package that won’t break the bank. While Kia is a mainstream competitor, it has equipped this electric with the style and amenities you’d expect from a luxury brand," said juror Matt DeLorenzo.
