Acura has revealed more details about the upcoming 2023 Integra. The new model is looking more and more like a grown-up version of the Honda Civic Si, with extras like an automatic gearbox, serious audio systems, and an adaptive suspension.
Powering the Integra will be a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque with max torque available from 1,800 through 5,000 rpm. Acura has fitted a new exhaust system it says "adds an emotional sound," so expect this to be a touch louder than other Honda and Acura models.
A six-speed manual transmission will be offered. Buyers who pick the manual transmission will also get a mechanical limited-slip differential and rev-matching for the close-ratio box. The default transmission will be a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Acura says it is tuned specifically for this engine and will respond quickly to the throttle. It will have paddle shifters and will simulate shifts during acceleration.
Acura will offer three drive modes for its Integrated Dynamics System that will change throttle response, shift mapping, and the colour of the gauges. On A-Spec Elite cars, the modes will also change the in-cabin engine sound. Pick the available adaptive dampers and the shocks will change their firmness for Comfort, Normal, and Sport modes. The Civic Si dropped its adaptive shocks for this generation, making Integra the only way to get them on this platform for the moment.
Inside, Acura says the Integra will have high-quality materials and switchgear. The vents will have a diamond pattern like the front grille, and there will be plenty of piano black trim. The seats will be synthetic leather and the driver gets eight-way power adjustment, while Elite A-Spec offers 12-way driver, four-way passenger adjustment and has microsuede inserts.
A 10.2-inch digital dash is standard while the center screen is a 7.0-inch unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Elite A-Spec gets a 9.0-inch screen, wireless phone integration, wireless charging, and a head-up display. An eight-speaker stereo is standard, but Acura will offer a 16-speaker ELS Studio system. The cabin infotainment and layout look to be a departure from the touchpad system Acura has been using in recent years
AcuraWatch, the brand's driver assistance suite, will be standard and includes collision mitigation braking, and traffic sign recognition. This latest version will also have a more natural radar cruise and lane-keeping response, Acura says.
The 2023 Acura Integra will be built at the brand's Marysville, Ohio, plant, alongside the TLX. The model is set to arrive at dealers in the spring with pricing "in the mid $30,000s".
