2024 Nissan Sentra Gets New Looks, New Transmission

Nissan is refreshing its compact Sentra sedan. The 2024 Nissan Sentra gets a new front fascia with upgraded headlights, powertrain enhancements aimed at improving fuel economy, and new standard safety assistance features.

This generation of the Sentra is about to reach four years on the market, and that means it's time for some freshening. Nissan starts with a new nose that showcases a much wider and taller grille than last year. The new face has less prominent chrome strips, and it is flanked by new headlights that use a black interior bezel to help give the car a sportier appearance.

Nissan's sport-oriented SR grade Sentra gets some extra tweaks of its own including dark chrome trim for the grille and other parts of the new fascia. Red-finish SR badges and a new design for the rear bumper help complete the exterior changes, while on the inside, Nissan has changed the contrast stitching to a colour that more closely matches the Altima SR and Frontier PRO-4X grades.

Safety Shield 360, Nissan's advanced driver assistance suite, is standard on the Sentra for 2024. The suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and rear automatic braking. Forward collision warning is standard as well.

Nissan's 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 149 hp and 146 lb-ft is largely the same for 2024, but it does get idle stop-start. It also has a new transmission that Nissan says should improve fuel economy while delivering smoother operation, though official economy estimates aren't yet available. For those who don't want the CVT, Nissan continues to offer a six-speed manual in base S and top SR grade models.

Expect the 2024 Nissan Sentra at dealers this fall, with Canadian pricing and fuel economy details to come.
