Hyundai Hikes Price of Redesigned 2024 Kona

The redesigned 2024 Hyundai Kona will cost quite a bit more than its predecessor when it launches later this summer.

The cheapest version’s starting price of $25,999 represents a $3,350 jump over the 2023 version; all-wheel drive adds the same $2,000 as the current Kona. Meanwhile, the mid-grade Preferred is priced at $30,499 with all-wheel drive and $28,499 without compared to $26,699 and $24,999, respectively, while the range-topping N Line version is all-wheel drive-only and rings in at $35,499 – a $5,300 price hike from before. Finally, that trim’s optional Ultimate package adds $3,000 compared to $4,300 before, while freight adds $1,925 to all trims.

Looking beyond the big bucks Hyundai is charging for the 2024 Kona, there’s plenty about this subcompact crossover that looks promising. For starters, it’s bigger than before – not so much in terms of its total footprint, but certainly in the second row. The catalyst there is the wheelbase, which has been stretched to 2,660 mm (104.7 in) – 60 mm (2.4 in) longer than before.

Otherwise, the 2024 Hyundai Kona is offered with new technology including the brand’s first Canadian implementation of its digital key, as well as over-the-air (OTA) updates and cloud-based navigation via a companion smartphone app.

Powertrain choices are mostly the same as before, with a 2.0L four-cylinder and automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) motivating most trims, and the N Line version getting the same 190-hp turbocharged 1.6L as before. What’s new is the conventional eight-speed automatic transmission it’s paired with in place of the outgoing dual-clutch unit.
