2024 Porsche Macan EV Arrives With Up to 630 HP

The first all-electric Porsche Macan has just debuted. The 2024 Porsche Macan will offer up to 630 hp from its fully electric driveline and 270-kW fast charging. The SUV will also deliver new tech, including a Porsche Driver Experience with augmented reality.

Porsche is launching the electric 2024 Macan in both Macan 4 and Macan Turbo models, with more expected to follow. The base Macan 4 will deliver up to 402 hp when overboost is engaged, letting it get from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The Turbo model makes 630 hp and 833 lb-ft, enough to scoot to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

Both models get the same 100-kWh (95 usable) battery pack. It's an 800V pack that can charge up to 270 kW on a DC fast charger. The fast charge speeds let it go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in about 21 minutes. The Macan can charge quickly even on 400V Level 3 charge stations by splitting the battery in half, charging each at 135 kW. At home, it can accept up to 11 kW of Level 2 charging. Porsche did not disclose range figures yet.

The new Macan uses its electric platform to help improve cabin space. It has a 2,893-mm wheelbase, 86 mm longer than before, but thanks to shorter overhangs, it is only 58 mm longer overall. The driver and front passenger sit up to 28 mm lower, while rear passengers are 15 mm lower and get more legroom.

The 2024 Porsche Macan can also hold more cargo in the trunk, thanks to the new platform. It can hold up to 540 L behind the rear bench or 1,348 L with the seats folded. The front trunk holds another 84 L.

Lower seats and a low-slung battery all help driving dynamics, Porsche says. Both models also get an air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management to further improve driving dynamics. The electric dampers now have two-valve technology, allowing a wider range between comfort and performance settings. The Macan gets standard AWD, with its traction management system able to respond five times faster than the system in a gas vehicle.

This is also the first Macan with rear-wheel steering. The optional feature turns the back tires up to five degrees, making for a tighter turning circle in town and better stability on the highway.

A 12.6-inch dash display and a 10.9-inch centre screen are standard. Another 10.9-inch display can be optioned for the passenger, so they can control the new infotainment system or stream video content. For the driver, the Porsche Driver Experience system adds augmented reality to the head-up display. It shows elements like navigation directions projected onto the roadway. Porsche now allows app downloads through its own store and has expanded the "Hey Porsche" voice assistant's capabilities.

The 2024 Porsche Macan EV is set to arrive at dealers in Canada in the second half of this year. The Macan 4 starts from $99,300, with the Macan Turbo from $125,300. Porsche will also sell the current-generation gas model alongside the electric for at least 2024. The gas Macan models include the Macan, Macan T, Macan S, and Macan GTS.
