BMW offers the iX in xDrive40, xDrive50, and M60 trim levels, each of which builds on the model before it with more power and performance.
Standard Features
The iX xDrive40 comes with 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, ambient interior lighting, automatic high beams, parking assistant, and digital gauges.
xDrive50 models gain four-wheel steering, air suspension, and four-zone climate control.
The M60 comes with 21-inch wheels, privacy glass, and active protection.
Key Options
A premium essential package adds wireless phone charging, a head-up display, passive keyless entry, multifunction front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. A premium enhanced pack builds on that with surround-view cameras, an upgraded stereo, a heat comfort package, soft-close doors, and a drive recorder.
Fuel Economy
As of this writing, BMW had only published energy consumption estimates for the xDrive50 model, which is rated at 2.7/2.7 Le/100 km (city/highway) in base form; versions with larger (21- and 22-inch) wheels are nominally less efficient.
Competition
With the iX, BMW enters a segment that already includes the Audi E-Tron, Tesla Model Y, and Jaguar I-Pace.

Under certain conditions, the vehicle may not produce enough sound to be detected by a pedestrian or cyclist. When using the valet parking mode, a software problem could cause certain warning messages not to appear on the central information display. If this happens, the driver would not be alerted about these specific problems with vehicle components and/or systems. Additionally, it may not be possible to adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster. Canadian regulations require warning lights or messages to display when certain faults are detected. The regulations also require an adjustment for the brightness of the instrument cluster.
