Great gas mileage smooth ride comfortable fully loaded reliability beautiful design, I love travelling in this car it so comfortable and What a beautiful design the LaCrosse affords me! If safety is your primary concern, then this vehicle’s appearance and many other features will delight you, too. So pleased with the comfort and the ease of operating all of the systems. The audio capabilities are splendid, especially on long trips. Heated seats and steering wheel are welcome in the cooler weather. Will enjoy the cooling seats in summer’s heat and humidity. Love the expansive sun/moon roof.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the protective coating on the rear suspension toe links may chip away. If this happens, the metal can rust and the toe link could break. A broken toe link can affect vehicle stability and could cause a loss of directional control. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2020-615. This recall only affects vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador). Safety Risk: A loss of vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear suspension toe links and adjuster fasteners.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the start-stop accumulator in the transmission may be missing bolts. As a result, transmission fluid could leak and eventually cause the transmission to stop working. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A transmission fluid leak onto a hot surface can create the risk of a fire. Additionally, a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the transmission start-stop accumulator. It will be replaced if any bolts are found missing.

On certain vehicles, a problem with the rear brake system may cause gas bubbles to form in the brake fluid. This could cause a soft brake pedal feel and a reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will bleed the rear brakes.

On certain vehicles, the rear-suspension toe-links may have been installed incorrectly (i.e., in the reverse direction). If a toe-link is installed in this incorrect direction, the bolt at the outboard attachment could come loose and fall out over time, which could cause the toe-link to disconnect from the rear-suspension system. If a rear-suspension toe-link becomes disconnected, the driver may lose the ability to control the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and reorient the toe-links as required.

On certain vehicles, the cable seal of one or both of the electric power steering (EPS) connectors may not be properly seated which could allow water to enter and corrode the connections. This could lead to increased resistance in the EPS circuit which could result in intermittent or permanent loss of the steering assist. A loss of power steering assist could unexpectedly increase steering effort which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will ensure the connector is fully seated and secure it in place.

On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), which controls airbag and pretensioner deployment, contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain circumstances. Failure of frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to deploy in a crash (when warranted) could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will reflash the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM, the dealers will replace the existing SDM with a new SDM containing the latest software. Note: This recall affects 2014-2017 model year Sierra LD/Silverado LD models and 2015-2016 model year Sierra HD/Silverado HD model vehicles.

On certain vehicles equipped with power height adjustable front seats, a bolt securing the adjuster mechanism may loosen and fall out. This would cause the seat to drop to the lowest vertical adjustment position, which could affect the driver's ability to safety operate vehicle controls as well as cause reduced driver visibility. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the bolt.

Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Protection, and/or CMVSS 118 - Power-Operated Window, Partition and Roof Panel Systems. A wiring splice in the driver's door may corrode and break, allowing the power windows and sunroof (if equipped) to function temporarily with the key removed, increasing the risk of injury to unsupervised occupants. This could also disable the audible warning if the key is in the ignition, increasing the risk of theft and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers are to inspect the door wiring harness and install a splice if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the front brake assembly may have been equipped with a rear brake rotor instead of a front one. During braking, higher heat will be generated by the thinner rear brake rotor which will significantly shorten the brake pad life. As the pads and rotor wear, the outer brake pad may come disengaged resulting in reduced brake system performance increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect both front brake rotors, and install new rotors and brake pads if necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with eAssist, the Generator Control Module (GCM) may not function correctly. This could cause a gradual loss of battery charge, which would illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp. Eventually, the engine may stall. In conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, this could increase the risk of a crash. In addition, there may be a burning or melting odour, smoke and possibly a fire in the trunk. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the Generator Control Module.

On certain vehicles, the transmission may shift from Driver Shift Control (manual) to Sport (automatic shifting) unexpectedly. If the driver was slowing the vehicle using DSC (manual) mode to achieve engine braking, engine braking would be cancelled without warning. In conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, this could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the transmission control module.

On certain vehicles, the StabiliTrak System may have been incorrectly calibrated during the manufacturing process. As a result, the system may not properly detect a malfunctioning sensor, and the warning lamp (indicating that the system is not operating) may not illuminate. Failure to properly diagnose a malfunctioning sensor may cause the Electronic Control System (ESC) to falsely activate, resulting in sudden changes in vehicle handling and deceleration, particularly at higher speeds, which may cause the driver difficulty in maintaining the vehicle's desired path of travel and speed. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module.

Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 103 - Windshield Defrosting and Defogging. Software in the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) module may disable the ability to adjust the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system settings. If this happens, the driver will not be able to control the heating, cooling, and ventilation of the vehicle. Loss of windshield defrosting and defogging function may, under certain driving conditions, compromise the driver's ability to see the road and its users, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the ECC module.
