Model Overview
In a luxury field now largely dominated by SUVs, Buick's sedan range is underpinned by a comfortable car bearing the familiar Regal name. Strictly speaking, the German-built Regal is actually a hatchback, but its exterior design hides that fact. Buick's design allows a roomy interior with loads of cargo space, while a buttoned-down chassis provides surprisingly agile handling that lives up to its European origins.

In 2008 i bought a used Buick Regal LS with 60 thousand Kilcks on it. Best car I have ever had. Reliable, comfortable, decent power 3.8 litre v6. All the bells and whistles. Decent gas mileage and very understated.

On certain vehicles, the protective coating on the rear suspension toe links may chip away. If this happens, the metal can rust and the toe link could break. A broken toe link can affect vehicle stability and could cause a loss of directional control.
Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2020-615. This recall only affects vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador).

On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French.

Under hard braking, drops of engine oil may be deposited on the exhaust manifold. If the manifold is hot enough and the oil runs below the heat shield, it may ignite into a small flame and, in some instances, the fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel and beyond. An under-hood fire could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the engine’s front valve cover and front-valve-cover gasket with new parts. The engine’s plastic “beauty” cover and plastic oil-fill-tube extension will also be removed, if they haven’t been already. Note: This recall supersedes and is an expansion of recalls 2008-081, 2009-105 and 2015-145. All vehicles having been inspected and/or serviced under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.

Certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 - Transmission Control Functions and CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. The shift cable adjuster may have been damaged at time of assembly and could disengage, causing the transmission to remain in a gear position different from the one indicated in the instrument panel. If the shift cable were to disengage while driving, upon stopping the vehicle, a driver could move the transmission range selector lever to the PARK position and remove the key, without the transmission being in PARK. If the parking brake is not set, the vehicle could roll, potentially resulting in a crash increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect and install a revised adjuster and clip if necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with eAssist, the Generator Control Module (GCM) may not function correctly. This could cause a gradual loss of battery charge, which would illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp. Eventually, the engine may stall. Certain vehicles equipped with rear drum brakes may exhibit a condition in which the bolt head(s) on the rear spindle rod may separate. There may be a noticeable rattle in the rear suspension. If the remaining portion of the bolt breaks, the wheel can shift, causing rear steering of the vehicle. This could cause the driver to lose control and a crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear spindle rod bolts on affected vehicles.
